best buy's "okay we'll hang onto it for two days...whoops! it has a virus! whoop! we can't recover it. whoops! we have to wipe the drive and install it fresh" is their general response to "man something slightly weird is wrong and we're really to lazy to figure it out let's charge them a lot of money to tell them they're fucked either way" or "uh we broke something while trying to figure out what's wrong and don't really want to own up to that".

there especially shouldn't be a reason for them to say "either we wipe this drive now or you give us $X and we'll save whatever we feel like saving can find; we are doing you a service here!" and not say "do you want to take it back for a few days and try to back up your files?"

um. yeah. i guess if best buy is your only option you don't have much of a choice, but sometimes i get kind of pissed off when someone's getting ripped off by shitty customer service, especially for things that i know i can fix in an afternoon :[

Yeaah....I mean, I generally hate bringing my laptop to Best Buy or any like place. When my old laptop freaked and virused out on me a couple times I always brought it to a friend or family computer perosn. But it happened so sudden this time and I didn't want to play phone/real life-tag with people who could maybe help =/

IF ONLY THIS HAD HAPPENED OVER THE SUMMER WHILE YOU WERE HERE. GAH. Luckily I have almost everything saved on an external hard-drive, so I only needed recent photos backed up....
