This entry is mainly an outlet for me to express my ridiculous infatuation and amour for this movie. Which, you can probably already tell that my rating is GO GO GO see this movie. I am personally a long-time lover of Marvel's X-men franchise, ever since I was a kid. I never read the comic books but I watched the cartoon religiously and later on tried to read comics.... although, I am more of a book person and comics aren't my thing. I do enjoy the occasional graphic novel though! LOOK HOW LONG IT HAS BEEN SINCE I POSTED THE TRAILER.
Out of all the X-men films, I think this one was my favorite. First because I really enjoyed their take on the story, second because the film was crafted very well- good directing and awesome acting, and third because thank god the cast was great. No offense to Hugh Jackman. He makes a pretty decent Wolverine but I damn near hated the previous casts from the X-men films. Really? Halle Berry and Ian McKellen? Ellen Page!? Anna Paquin!? REALLY? Anyway, I can go on and on.
To a person who is not really into the X-men or comic book movie adaptations... still check this film out. The Era is really cool and set in one of my favorite times of History- The Cold War. (I did a term paper on Cuban Missile Crisis in AP World History woo!) It's very entertaining... and it is PRETTY LONG (2 hrs. 15m or something), but I never really found myself bored. My ass hurt, though. Bring snacks. Hit up the dollar store that's right next to your movies.
For adapting the comics, it tried to stay true to the original story. It did pretty well! My lame ass nerdcore boyfriend was bitching the whole time about how this and that wasn't accurate and blah blah blah. OMG STFU. How the fuck are people supposed to adapt such detailed, drawn-out storylines into a 2 hour film? Exactly. And for a two hour film that catered to all audiences, not just die-hards, it did a great job. You got the gist of who the characters were and where they came from... and Emma Frost was skanky as hell in her little costumes just like how they were in the comics! Be happy.
The Good: Great adaptation. The cast was fantastic. It was really entertaining! Lots of action.
The Bad: It was long as fuck (I never wanted it to end). Sometimes it had some seriously cheesy shit but the actors delivered the lines pretty well.
OMG NICHOLAS HOULT. ^_^ EEEEEEEEE MARRY ME.
THE CAST WAS JUST SO GOOD. fdnjskfndsjalfbndjsl!!!!
