Hey, quick survey, whiner brigade: hands up if you've ever killed someone on purpose.

I realize it'd be faster to ask who here hasn't killed someone on purpose, but faster's not really the point.

In fact, why don't we take this slow?

to hell with good intentions, yeah he's making a shiv *right now*, [game: lastvoyages]

interesting that you choose to assert your emotional certainty rather than present moral justification.

Oh, was it moral justification you were looking for? You should have specified.

He was a half-demon who'd murdered and tortured innumerable people and tried to destroy at least two priceless literary works. I admit when I fired it was half in self-defence but it needed to be done no matter the circumstances. With the abilities he had any form of confinement would have been temporary at best.

I've been told literary offences aren't considered nearly as grave in most other universes. You can replace them with your choice of horrific war crime if that would give you a better idea of it.

tell me, what makes a literary work priceless?

I'll spare you the tired maxims about works that capture the essence of the human soul, true as they may be. Honestly, nobody really knows for sure. That's why we have English majors.

so you're telling me English majors are legitimately, legally influential in your world.

wacky.

And you're telling me they're not in yours. I could say the same for you.

now, now, let's not turn a perfectly good liberal arts jab into actual constructive dialogue re: the differences between people's universes.

Liberal arts? Next you'll be telling me that history majors can't get respectable jobs in your world either.
