Being a major Wizard of Oz fan, I had to catch the first episode of Tin Man on the Sci-Fi channel.
I really do like the direction they took it in, but I wanna see the whole miniseries before I decide to become a part of the fandom. The "re-imagining of Oz" feels a lot like The Looking Glass Wars in its attempt to put a twist on a classic tale. I'm watching it with my sister and we both agree that that Zooey Deschanel's acting is what kinda kills it. And I don't get it because she's not really a bad actress, but in this show she was just kinda weird. But I'm withholding final judgment until I see the whole series.
Azkadellia is a passable villain. I became much more interested in her once we learned she was DG's sister. I LOVE her hair. I'm pretty sure my sister can re-create that style, it just takes a lot of work.
Alan Cumming...I love him as usual. And the fact that he plays the Scarecrow character just makes me love him even more. Scarecrow's always been my favorite of Dorothy's friends so I immediately targeted Glitch as a favorite before I even saw the others. I like his head-zipper. <3 His character is just too adorable not to love. Raw is also cute, Brookie and I noticed he has the same run as Bert Lahr in the MGM film. XD Believe it or not, I'm not entirely drawn to Cain. His character so far just seems kinda blah, and while Glitch and Raw are more along the fantastic and quirky side, Cain is just too normal. Although I will say I loved his introduction.
Ok this is just my inner fangirl talking but I have to wonder if the miniseries will even bother hinting at a Glitch/DG pairing. Sigh. Does no one believe in Scarecrow/Dorothy anymore? Even though I loved Wicked I was saddened by the fact that Fiyero ended up with Elphaba (it worked before I found out Fiyero was Scarecrow). I'm totally open to alternate pairings, but there really hasn't been a Scarecrow/Dorothy pairing since the original film. Even the McFarlane Twisted World of Oz figures didn't go that direction. =(
I'm really gonna try to watch the rest of this series when I get back to school. But that means hijacking the TV in the common room before anyone else does
