Support Gundersheim at the school committee meeting tomorrow night at 7pm at the middle school.

For the full information,

As some of you may be aware, the budget override did not pass in Merrimac and we are in major financial trouble in the district. Today I got a call from a neighbor who told me she was concerned because on the list of cuts proposed at the high school was .2 Theatre Arts. Imagine after seven years of the theatre program at the high school, and all the amazing things that have taken place over the years, they are still messing with Mr. Gundersheim's position. The administration did not even have the courtesy to tell him this to his face ahead of time - I had to hear it from a neighbor. They are not proposing to cut his position completely, just reduce it down by two classes, giving him a part time job. Needless to say, he could not stay here for a part time job.

The school committee meets at the middle school tomorrow night , Tuesday July 13th at 7 pm. I know you are all busy but if you are around, please come down and support Mr. G. He could really stand to see your smiling and supportive faces and be reminded of all the lives he has touched and changed through the years, as could the school board stand to see and hear proof that this is a teacher that should have a full time job. If you are not in town and want to send a note of support, send to maclean@prsd.org, townes@prsd.org and/or dlittlefield@johnsonschool.org (this is greg hall's mom and a member of the school board - if she receives them in time, knowing her, she will read them out loud, who knows!) If your parents are around or interested, pass this along to them - sadly, people seem to pay more attention to grown ups. Anyone who wants to can attend or send a letter.

Also, FYI, Advanced Acting has 29 students signed up for next year - the largest ever - with more probably adding in if they get closed out of World Foods. But they still won't make two sections. If any of you remember what it was like to take a senior level, advanced course, and have a million people in the class, add that to your list of comments/suggestions/complaints. Those students deserve to be able to get through a series of monologues in less than three weeks!

Thanks for any support or help you can give - it will be much appreciated. You are all off on your own, living your lives and doing amazing and exciting things and we are proud of each and every one of you, whether we are close in touch with you or not. Regardless of where you are or what you are doing, I know you will always hold Room 173 close to your heart, with all you learned and experienced there. Please help us make sure that will continue. If there is anyone you feel would like to receive this e mail, please feel free to send it along.

Thank you, enjoy your summer and take care,

Susan

Please come if you can, and if not, write a letter in support.

-Jill
