Make your own definition as to what a serious relationship is.

I'm not sure you can. I think it's something you feel. I'm not convinced there are actually specific parameters. There's no serious relationship checklist. It's all about how you're feeling towards someone and what you want out of your time together. And for some people, that's different. For me, I consider myself in a serious relationship when I don't want to be with anyone else. When being around that person makes me feel happy - pure and unadulterated - no matter what's going on in my life. A serious relationship makes me feel good about myself. It doesn't make me question who I am or doubt my beliefs, it doesn't make me want to change. It makes me feel secure. Safe.

Jonathan Kent was my first serious relationship. I'd dated lots of people before I met him, and maybe I thought I was serious about them. But I learned when I met Jonathan that I wasn't. I didn't feel any of those things. I didn't know how good an actual serious relationship could be. And you can't seek out something you don't know exists. Thank goodness it found me.
