Adam raised an eyebrow as Evan paced around the library of Rosier Manor. The former sat up and narrowed his eyes as he caught a gist of what Evan was murmuring under his breath. He finally stood up to lunge and grab the back of his friend's collar as the latter made to leave the library.

"Where do you think you're going?" Adam hissed.

"St. Mungo's," Evan answered, pulling his clothes free from Adam's grasp.

"What? Are you not feeling well?" Adam asked, following his friend's progress across the library and out the door towards the hallway.

"I'm feeling fine," Evan turned to his friend and surprised Adam with a real smile. "Ecstatic, in fact," Evan turned to the house elf that had come out of a different room. "Elf, my cloak."

"Then what are you going to do at the hospital, pray tell?"

"I'm going to visit someone," Evan replied, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

Adam grabbed Evan's sleeve. Evan shook him off and took his cloak from Elf, who scurried away as soon as Evan threw his cloak around his shoulders and continued towards the main door. Adam rolled his eyes as he caught Evan by the edge of his cloak.

"The Aurors are on high alert at St. Mungo's, fool. Who is so important you would risk your own neck just to see them in the hospital?" Adam demanded.

Evan shook his head as he turned to face the younger boy. "I'm afraid you wouldn't understand."

Evan pressed his hands against the glass window. His eyes scanned the medley of faces until they were drawn to one in the second row. He smiled widely as the little girl batted her eyelashes and looked up at him with blue eyes. Evan's breathing became laboured as he struggled to fight back the tears he hadn't expected. He blinked them away quickly as a mediwitch came forward. His hand naturally went to the wand within his robes until the witch gestured amongst the cribs with a questioning look on her face. The grip on his wand loosened unwillingly before he pointed at the child he had been looking at. The mediwitch bent down to pick her up and came forward so Evan could have a better look. The little blonde baby reached out and made grabby hands at him. Evan pressed his forehead against the glass. His breath fogged it up. His eyes glanced over the tag around her wrist, making sure this was really her. "Daphne."

"Evan Rosier," a low, gruff voice growled behind him.

Evan stiffened and turned around slowly, his stance defensive.

"Evan Rosier, we have a warrant for your arrest from the Ministry of Magic," Alastor Moody growled again. Evan sneered angrily as the bile rose in his throat. He detested Moody. Evan reached for his wand, but Moody and the other Aurors had the upper hand. "Don't be stupid, Rosier."

"Confringo!" the spell came out from nowhere and hit Moody's wand, causing it to explode. Evan took the momentary distraction to run towards the direction from which the spell had come from. He managed to steal one last look at Daphne, who was now crying as the mediwitch clutched her against her chest. He very nearly paused until a hand around his upper arm aided him as they ran towards the staircases.

"IDIOT!" Adam roared angrily as they ran. "YOU CAME HERE TO LOOK AT BABIES?!"

"She's not just any baby!" Evan declared, turning a corner. A spell barely missed his ear. "She's the love of my life."

"YOU'RE SICK!" Adam yelled. "I THOUGHT I WAS STRANGE, BUT YOU ARE SICK, MATE!"

"That was Daphne!" Evan had to smile, despite the situation.

"Oh, well, that changes things..." Adam's voice got a little lower as he stunned a mediwizard and they rounded another corner. "But, still, Evan....that was really stupi--" Adam flew backwards as he ran straight into the ward protecting the staircases.

"Fuck, Adam," Evan cast three consecutive spells at the invisible barrier, none of them working.

Adam sat up, rubbing his head. "Ah, damnation."

"That was an awesome spell, back there. Great aim," Evan reached an arm out as he helped Adam up. The pair could hear several pairs of feet coming closer.

"What are you talking about? I was aiming for Moody."

"We were going to die anyway," Evan muttered. "No time like the present."

"1980. Twenty-five years longer than I deserved to live," Adam grinned as he pulled out his wand. The Aurors came around the corner.

"Confringo!" Evan screamed from behind him, hitting the side of Moody's face. His nose exploded. Moody fell backwards as the rest of the Aurors came forward to attack the Death Eaters.

Adam threw up a Shield Charm as Evan laughed.

"That's how you use a Blasting Curse!"
