last night was the valentines dance, and even though i was the only loser who had to have his older brother drive me and my date, it was still lots of fun.
at around noon yesterday, i came to the sudden realization that i had no bowtie. frantically i called ronni, who proceeded to give me a bunch of choir people's numbers (cuz they would have ties). josh had already lent me his tie because joshua had needed it for state choir (he couldnt find his own and so used mine, which he proceeded to break, so i had to borrow josh's tie for him). but i couldnt get a hold of anyone else. consequently, i was frantic until i called the bolsters and was able to obtain stephens tie.
having finally secured a tie, i proceeded to begin to get ready (at 5:00). i then smacked myself in the head and said "D'OH!" because i had forgotten to put my shirt in the dryer. i showerd and got tux pants and undershirt on. then i pulled my shirt out and ironed it with lots of starch. finally, at five thirty i woke up matthew and had him take me to pick up the tie and then brittany. but he didnt actually get up till five forty. i had told brittany that i would be there at a quarter til. so then we get the tie, and on the way to brittany's i told matthew to turn on the third light after getting on rodd field. he insisted that there wasnt another light and that the next light was spid. so in my confusion i had him turn on the wrong street.
after realizing that i was right in the first place, matthew turned around and went the right way. but i didnt get to brittany's till 6:02. then we get to the dance and NO ONE HAS ARRIVED YET! the only people there were the leaders and the servers (the 14-15 yr olds). there was ONE other couple there. so we sit. at about 6:20 they start even though no one is there. the centerpieces featured a chick in a clown suit looking thing that was just sitting there STARING at us. the chick would have looked bored if she didnt have tears running out of her eyes. it ended up being a really wierd effect.
so then the servers came and took our salads before anyone had even started. then they brought lasagna (they gave brittany, who had eaten not too long before, this HUGE piece and i got one about a third that size). they didnt put any background/mood music on, so you could just hear the clicking of silverware and quiet conversation.
then the dancing started and that was fun. clay and his date and shawn and ronni got there late (like at almost 7). we danced. a good time was had by all. then king taught us two of the dances for the jubilee that we would be in in may for the temple dedication. then more regular dancing, then shawn says, "we'll go to my house in two songs" and someone else was already dancing with my date for both songs, and i was like "ghetto! i should get to dance the last song we're here with my date" so i danced with claytons date (he was dancing with brittany). she was a pretty cool girl. but then when the third song came, shawn was all like "SNAP! this is a cool song, we stay for one more". so i danced with brittany a final time.
then we went to shawns house and saw the notebook. it was pretty good. then we went home.
