end of the term.
well term 5 at school just finished up and I had THE best shadow experience ever. Shadow day was at OSU vet hospital in Equine ICU. Only had 3 cases in ICU so I got to bounce back and forth between that and food animals. The horses had colic, which is an upset stomach and a general clinical sign. One was in isolation for salmonellosis, so I had to suit up during rounds because we all love zoonotic diseases. In food animal, I got to see a bull that probably weighed a ton, it had an abscess in his back foot. Helped wheel him down to radiology and on the way back, he blew snot on my face. Also had a heifer who had two holes, one on each side of it's right rear nipple. Its utter was soo swollen it was about 3 feet from abdomen to nipples and a foot and a half across. The tech was able to fit her whole hand in the larger hole.
When I was done I told the gentleman who set up my shadow day that after my boards in Jan I would like to come in and volunteer one day a week if faculty will approve. I want to extern there and get a job. It's good to know I found a place where I fit in.
