[The communicator flicks on as Romana tosses it onto her bed, somehow landing on her pillow in a way that you get just enough of a look of the room to tell what's going on. It jostles slight as Romana sits down on the bed, groaning softly as she reaches down to unlace her boots, wriggling her toes once they're free. There's worse aches in her body ( Read more... )

Ah... Romana? {He hated to bother her but... that wound looks pretty bad.}

[By now she's more than well aware what the communicator's done to her. Too afraid to speak, just in case she shows even more of things she doesn't want people to know (ie, her emotions, how shaken she is that people now know) she sticks with the text functions, her replies slow]

Yes?

What happened? Are you alright?

{He remembered seeing the cat fight but he didn't think it got THAT serious.}

[There's a long pause after he sends the message before the camera flicks back on, Romana clearly exhausted and trying to work out the cramp in her right hand]

I'll be fine. I... don't know what being away from my land will do to my ability to heal, especially if time is frozen there but... [Shrugs] I've lasted 3 years, I'll survive.

They've warned you about the chip right? {He sees how worn she looks and is sympathetic. He wishes he was there to help in someway.}

You'll heal like a human would. You should really see a doctor.

Yes. [Pauses and listens, head dropping down as she exhales slowly]

I see. I'll consider it, but I plan to remove that thing as soon as possible. I doubt a doctor will help much, in the end.

{He's worried. He doesn't want you to die but if a doctor can't really help...}

Mn, it's best to get it removed. It malfunctioned once and turned me against my friends. It's best not to take any chances.

[She's far too stubborn, even if she thought a doctor could do something, she wouldn't go unless dragged.]

I plan to, as soon as I can. Apparently I have to wait a few weeks? And then I need to find a doctor whose willing, and barring that I suppose I'll just need to find supplies to do it myself.

I may be able to help you find a doctor willing? I know of at least one in Discedo. I really wouldn't recommend doing it yourself.

It's fine. ...Sparrow suggested some. I'll find them. And if I can't... I've removed bullets and shrapnel from bodies. How can this be different.

I imagine it's a lot harder to concentrate when it's yourself.

It's hard to concentrate when there's men all around you dying and you haven't got half the things you need and you're all crammed into tiny little tents and yet. I managed.

And as long as I get it out, I won't have to worry about the healing.
