paris day 6 (of 10) - a rock with a heart like a socket you could (have) plug(ged) into at will

Oct 10, 2007 07:30

the apartments are old here

the lifts only carry 3 people

the parcs are nice, and people make out in them. not in an obnoxious way, a very public way and yet... unlike a voyeur, i am able to maintain their privacy. it still hurts to see couples though.

i am not to be left alone with my thoughts because i'm very tired of getting emails from certain people who need to go away. when an experience has drained an immense amount of energy from you, you need to find somewhere to get it back from - you don't need to give up that last little bits that were allowing you to carry on. that's not how it's supposed to work. and yet, i feel as though i am shit-receptacle for the most selfish people in my environment. funny enough, on the days where i'm looking for guidance, my horoscope is always easy to interpret:

Capricorn Horoscope

Although you might be dreaming about a long vacation or even just a mini-escape, real limitations might prevent you from doing as you wish. Coming to terms with reality can prove discouraging now, but it is not a good idea to hold on to an unreachable goal. Make the necessary adjustments in your current plans to bring your expectations back into balance.

other than that, rob is officially signed off the "mélissa laveaux" project. he hasn't even touched any instrument in months. we get along so much better when he's not playing with  me. and sure the music sounded great - but i wasn't able to be myself on stage. well, the strong self. the weak self would come out more often than not because he kept me stressed out.

so here in paris, while he is working on getting the souljazz orchestra some sweet deal for their upcoming french/uk tour, and i'm working on gigs and producing this record (there's troubles here too...), we're hanging out having coffee in brasseries where people expect you to say "hello" when they walk in be it the customers or the staff. for a "rude" populace, they sure like their social conventions... odd. but interesting where the cultural gaps lie. we also had crappy north american pub food à la french. rob' s idea... shoulda had mussels. did i say it's really hard to try to be vegan in france? i was trying to cleanse a bit and start introducing more of a veggie diet into my week... and it's damn near impossible. so.much.cheese!

favorite artsy thing? interestingly enough, all of the bars or brasseries or café's i've visited have excessively artistic waterclosets (washrooms). whether it's art deco or post-grunge or graffiti/performance art, everyone invests time in decorating "les chiotes".

i know, i know, still no pictures (this last one was googled). i'm a little too depressed/busy to upload some on. maybe i'll have an entirely picture post soon.
until then... ta-ta.
