Homeward Bound Part II: Christmas Love Me Long Time

Dec 28, 2003 18:26

I had a good haul this year, not the least of which was my parents paying to fly me home for a week. There was also money from grandparents, a CD, and a few cups of cheer among other things.

But of all my gifts this year, none were as inexplicable as this trinket, given by my sister and brother-in-law. It was unearthed at a Chinese restaurant in Lansing, Michigan. They were minding their own business, trying to exit after getting thoroughly MSG’d, when they were accosted by a manager who demanded they accept this “free gift.” Not wanting to offend, they accepted, vowing to dispose of the thing in the nearest ditch.

But in their wisdom they spared the free gift. They turned the box over and read the instruction manual, at which point they decided it was something I absolutely had to have.
