Sneaky

I really shouldn't be updating at school, but it's 4:15 and I'm waiting for my ride, and even though I have a million things to do, I'm here.

On Saturday I started an entry and then our housemate, who is leaving the country soon, came into the room to chat. We don't get many of those opportunities, so I thought I'd just write later... 2 days later!

So I went for a bike ride outside on Saturday morning. I have this great contraption that I can hook my bike up to in the house so I can "train" indoors, which is great because when the weather is bad I can still ride, and I'm pretty good at reading and riding when I don't have to watch where I am going. However, on nice days or as much as possible, I like to ride outside. I haven't been on my bike outside since before Africa. What a thrill! I love riding my bike! There is such a sense of freedom that I get on my bike that I can't get anywhere else. It reminded me of why I used to race and of course made me wonder why the heck it's been so long since I've been "on the road". As I was riding I noticed the prairies and hay bales on my right and a bee-yoo-ti-ful range of cristal clear mountains on my left. I spent a few minutes pretending that I was a tourist to my own country observing the contrast of landscape for the very first time... which turned into a daydream of travelling the world by bike, which led to a daydream of running a bike touring company for tourists. Ahhh, that would be great, wouldn't it?

I was so caught up in my wonderful ride that I didn't even notice how hard I was riding and when I finally did, I just didn't care. Making babies or not, sometimes you just need a good ride.

Friday was my Dad's birthday and we went out to see Ruthie Foster. She was fantastic as expected, however there were a lot of people talking and a few men who decided to "steal the show" with their singing, which certainly took away from the experience. We have already paid to see another show at the same venue, hopefully we won't have to endure another night of the "local talent" and "chatter". My dad was pretty happy about the show. Another positive interaction. We seem to be having more and more of those these days. Phew. It was a lot of hard work 'fighting back', but it seems it all turned out for the best.

On Saturday night, my husband and I went out to see a movie. The ones we really wanted to see we were too late for, and there was still a big line at the popcorn stand (who knew Saturday nights were so popular for movies?), so we decided to see The 40 Year Old Virgin. What a hilarious show! Normally I'm not a big fan of "dumb" movies, but it was great. I giggled in my seat from start to finish! And then felt slightly ill at the end for eating so much movie popcorn and chocolate after being so healthy for the past month.

Sunday was a beautifully lazy day! We went for a long walk, bought some groceries, made breakfast and de-caf coffee, and read books, downloaded stuff off our computer so we can give it an enema, and just spent some time together. It was so nice to not have anything specific to do, or anywhere that we were obligated to be. This week is a little different as we have something going on every night. And I just remembered that I told a friend I would call her back after dinner and then I didn't. Oops! Sorry friend! I got distracted!

Ok I'm off. Have a lovely day!
