One thing I know for sure: I am tired. These 4am start times, though beneficial in a number of ways, have been a weird and inconsistent drain in my later-in-the-day energy.
Take this week for example; a couple of days it happened that we were sent to alternate job sites to complete "corrective" maintenance, but couldn't start work on arrival due to access to the building/job site (locked building, locked gate, etc). This means we have nothing to do but sit around and wait for someone with a key to come by and unlock everything- with a planned show time of 5am, that means we might have to wait for up to two hours for a GC or other superintendent to come by and give us access.
Anyway, on two separate occasions I showed up at 4:45am, parked the car, put the seat back down and decided to "snooze" for a bit, and woke up over an hour later- thanks to my boss tapping on my window and letting me know that the building was finally unlocked for us to access. I had some interesting dreams during this time: I had Bott Radio on and had been listening to one of the sermons they play in 30-minute increments, and when I fell asleep I had actual dreams that were then "narrated" by the sermons...like, I had a dream that I was actually *working at the job site* like normal, but as my boss was talking to me I was hearing the voice of David Jeremiah (or Chuck Swindoll, or Jack Hibbs) speaking as part of the sermon.
...and oh yeah, gotta document workouts:
Monday didn't happen as planned, because after work I stuffed myself at a Veteran's Day free dinner that Olive Garden usually offers. So, I went on Tuesday.
Leg Extension machine, 70lbs (a)
Walking lunges (a)
Goblet squats, 15lbs (a)
RDLs, 15lb dumbbells (a)
Pulse squats (a)
Hold Squats (b, 15sec, 22sec, 35sec)
Notes: I had *lots* of rest time in between the pulse squats...I didn't want to come up short on those this time- it was major pain getting them all done though. My hold squat performance was also pathetic, but I was trying really hard and didn't quit until I was almost seeing starts during the last hold- it was an incredibly long 35 seconds, believe me. I only did 15 minutes of cardio, since I'd be doing another workout the following day.
Wednesday was alright, kinda:
Chest Press machine, 90lbs (b, dropped to 70 on final set)
Chest flys, 15lb dumbbells (a)
Curls to press (15lb dumbbells) (c, b13)
Lateral raises, same dumbbells (c, b1)
Plank taps (c, b12)
Pushups (c, a12)
Notes: I think I tried harder on everything compared to last week- I *wanted* to try harder/accomplish more, at least. I completed 20 minutes of cardio easily, and could've gone further but just wanted to be done.
I caved/collaborated with the kids and agreed to go to Cici's for pizza dinner tonight. Only Barrett and Dillon were really enthusiastic about going, Carissa and Amy were almost the opposite- so it was just me and the boys, while the girls stayed home and ate Red Baron pizza. The three of us had a nice time eating and conversing and generally having a good time; we don't really have a lot of "boys night out" activities where it's just the three of us, but I think I'll try to incorporate more of that into our monthly comings and goings.
Oh yeah, the other thing about my work schedule- I got a lot of overtime this week. This also means that I didn't get to put in a lot of time at the lab in the last few days- which means I will be making trips to the lab over the weekend. On the bright side: there is a lot of stuff I can/want to do without the chance of being annoyed/interrupted/talked at by the other instructors or staff in the building, so it'd be fair to say that it's a good thing overall that my lab time is going to be spent this way. I do have a long list of things I want to get done at home too, but I'm sure I'll manage with these others draws on my time.
In conclusion, I anticipate some sleeping in tomorrow.
God is good. That is all.
