It Has Been Done

Feb 16, 2021 11:20

Final project was turned in at about 11:20pm last night.  I could've turned it in sooner, but I asked Amy to review everything before turning it in- and she spent 30 minutes or so making formatting and syntax "corrections" on my slides (it was a 26-slide PowerPoint presentation).  Personally I think the changes she made were simply a matter of taste- and, the teacher appears to be an easy grader in those categories anyway- but I was happy to get her direct support either way.  We celebrated the final turn-in by staying up a few extra minutes after midnight.

On the MACU Home page, my "Courses" tab says "you don't have any current or future courses."  So, it's as close to official as it's going to get, short of a diploma and transcript.  =)

I feel good, and also relieved.  As I mentioned yesterday, these past 18 months have seen me making some sacrifices (some small, some not-so-small) in my everyday life- and I definitely think they have been worth it, but I definitely didn't want to be stuck with those sacrifices in perpetuity.

Oh yeah- and, the intense winter storms (though so far it's only been about 6 inches of snow) this week means that my job site was shut down Monday AND today.  If the forecast for tomorrow holds, and we get another 6 inches of snow between now and Wednesday morning, I will probably have tomorrow off too.  Missing 3 days' pay isn't going to hurt me- and, we will probably make it up in the next week or two via overtime hours anyway- and an (unexpected) "extended weekend" is going to be fine with me.

So anyway, I can read more, different, non-business-related books!  Sitting on my desk just waiting to be read is The Whirlwind War, the account of the first Gulf War.  It's only 289 pages so I could finish it today if I was properly motivated...but, I am probably going to end up dusting off my bookmark.

I am also intending to watch all of the "play by play" WW2 campaign videos made by Eastory:

Their descriptions and "moving map" animations are exactly what I wished we had during any history class I'd ever taken.

I have also finally gotten around to getting a lot of past pictures and videos (especially from the run 'n gun) uploaded to the computer, and will probably be posting them sooner rather than later.  What I'd really like to do is find a quality NON-youtube source to post (the) videos from, as I am *trying* (and having a hard time, obviously) to separate myself from YT and other *actual* Fascist, censorship and cancel-culture-riffic media sources- to include FB, along with Twit (which I have never used) and most entertainment organizations...we dumped Disney+ after the whole "Gina Carano is bad but Pedro, who did practically the same thing (but told more of an actual lie in HIS thing), is NOT bad" and won't look back; as far as we're concerned, The Mandalorian (TERRIFIC show that it was, truly) ended with Season 2.
In any case, now that I have more time and mental energy available- especially since I have a 2nd day off work- I am going to try to straighten up some areas in my direct sphere of influence.  We'll see how that goes...!

God is good.  All the time.
