What do you folks think is the three biggest ways women get gypped in our society? What do you think is the danger of this is?

Also that stat of women making 70% of what men make in the same position has been floating around for a while. Does anyone know what study that came from?

The most (and sometimes only) important thing about women is how they look. You can parse that however you like: we're too fat, too flat, too tall, too short, too blonde, not blonde enough, et cetera ad nauseum. I'd say that's the biggest gyp out there. Our culture for the last 100 years has been selling to men that they can be fat, dumb, ugly and still get the funny/understanding/super-model-hot wife or girlfriend... look at any sit com or pop-lit novel or romantic comedy. The doofy, balding dude with the pot belly will totally win the day, every day. A doofy, balding, chick with a pot belly is at best a punch line and at worst.... let's not even go there. I realize this first one has been covered already in other comments, but I've been on both sides of the coin, here. I was a cheerleader and ran track in my school-days. I'll show you pictures some time. Back then I wasn't fat yet, but I was too pale or too top-heavy or too plain, then too athletic, then too... et cetera ad nauseum. People won't actually be "people" (as opposed to "men' and "women") until the female gender is allowed to be judged by other than how they appear.

I have two others, but it occurs to me that I'm running late and have to go to rehearsal. We can talk about it later, if you want.
