Don't piss off the nerd angels

Winchester boys talking to each other?! Must be a sign of the end times!

Well, they finally pulled it together. S5 hasn't really been doing it for me and it certainly hasn't really been moving me since about 5:04. Since the hiatus it's been picking up again but hasn't been quite right. One thing this show can do though, with the exception of S3, is gear up for the finale. The change in tone from the beginning to the end of the episode was immense.

It was pivotal in all the right ways for such a milestone: just the right amount of action and plenty of talking. I love what this episode did for Sam, finally. The Winchester brothers spent several years dying for each other (or trying to), but to forgive and redeem each other is so much harder. Dean really hadn't earned Sam's faith in him, and Sam had every right to be angry for Dean's own lack of trust, but he finally realised that he had to be the strong one. He's been damned far beyond what he deserved for killing Lillith (Killing Lillith! It's what they spent all of S4 talking about!), and knowing that he is Lucifer's vessel, along with all the disillusionment about the angels and God, is so much worse for him given his original faith.

I loved Adam telling it straight and standing up to himself to Sam and Dean, but he also showed his naivete in trusting what he was told. I guess Michael is going to be wearing him for the rest of the season - I hope he's as good as young John actor was!

(Minor niggle: explaining to Adam how the angels wanted the Apocalypse might have helped to convince him not to trust them!)

Zachariah continued his run as an awesome awesome baddie. Funny how sometimes the underlings are the best, like Caleb for example.

And Cas. Hmmmmm. I love that he is finally getting some development so late in the season, and he is, indeed, a BAMF, but I'm really sad that he's lost his faith in Dean. Mainly because I love that relationship, but also because he's already lost his faith in God, but now he feels betrayed by the man he fell for. But I suppose it could never have been Cas's faith that brought Dean round. I guess the writers decided that they needed to bring things home (or just that the Sam/Dean shippers needed some love ;)). I'd read the spoilers that a character would go on a suicide mission and I was worried it would be him :( He'd better come back! *wibble*

That last scene was perfect! Go Team Free Will and go Team Winchester!

And finally, appreciation for hte fan service! "The last time someone looked at me like that, I got laid." "The Winchester brothers are psychotically, irrationally, erotically co-dependent on each other".

Went to see WIcked with my mum and sister tonight - really fun!!
