Is she alive?

Oh my god, it was scary tonight at work. A little old lady was parked in front of the store and she was just sitting in her car, her head back on her seat and her eyes closed and mouth hanging open. She seriously looked dead. Arin and I hadn't even known she was there at first, but then a woman came into the store and told us that there was an old lady parked out front passed out, and the woman had even honked her horn, but the old lady didn't move. Arin and I got scared and were really hoping she was okay. Arin went out and knocked on the car window. Luckily, the old lady woke up. Turns out she was traveling and still had 28 miles to go, and she got really tired and pulled over at Mobil. Whew. Thank God.

New Subway guy gave me my sub for free. He also told me about his bronchitis and said it gets passed in the air. Nice. I hope I don't have it. But hey, thanks for the free sub.

My trip to Seattle was good, except for a couple things, which I'll get to. (Oh, and be prepared to think I'm being completely silly for one of these things.)

My shuttle from Eau Claire to the airport was nice. I was sitting next to a very outgoing woman. She obviously loves to talk and loves meeting new people. I'm not much of a talker, but it wasn't so bad. She was funny and nice to talk to, so I couldn't really be annoyed. Turns out she works in a gas station too.

The shuttle driver was a short, stout guy with a mini-mullet. I was trying to figure out what looked so strange about him, but then I realized that he didn't seem to have a neck. I swear his head sat right on his shoulders.

The plane ride was uneventful, which is good. And I got a window seat, which is very good. I like to look for swimming pools. They're so easy to spot, being that they're bright blue. And farm country is neat because of the squares of different colors. Mountains look really cool as well. They've got a lot of those in Washington just before you reach Seattle.

Forgot my book that I was going to read on the plane, so I ended up buying a book in the airport before I left. It was a little expensive, but it turned out to be an interesting book. It's called The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, by Mark Haddon. I think the kid in the book must be autistic, and the book is supposed to be written through his eyes. In fact, he's the one who "writes" the book. It starts out with him trying to find out who killed a neighborhood dog, but it turns into many things and has many surprise twists.

Once in Seattle, Chuck met me at the airport. I finally got to see his hair in person. He had been growing it out a bit longer than he usually likes it and had sent me pics of it. In fact, he hates his hair right now, but I think he's too lazy to make an appointment for a cut. I can understand that because I'm the same way. I haven't had a cut in a year. I'm sure I've got a ton of split ends. And I've been trimming my bangs myself, which is really annoying because I suck at cutting hair. They're always crooked. Anyway, I love Chuck's hair because I'm a hair freak. Now he's got more hair to play with. My hands were always in his hair!

Friday night was the NIN concert! It was awesome! I can't wait until my second one in October! It was interesting people-watching at this concert too. Lots of punk-looking people and goths. Lots of dark clothing and interesting outfits. Some people looked pretty cool, but some people just looked scary. I saw one guy who was really tall and looked kind of like Marilyn Manson. I like Marilyn Manson's music, but he dresses pretty scary.

Chuck and I were up pretty high, but that was alright. As fun as the mosh pit looked, I'm not sure I'd really want to be down there. It would be awesome being that close to the stage, but I'm sure I'd come out pretty bruised and feeling a bit violated. I don't like being in such close proximity with a bunch of strangers. I'm sure it was really hot down there too. But I was actually a bit cold up where I was sitting.

Before NIN came out, Queens of the Stone Age played quite a few songs. Those guys put on a great show too! Josh Homme likes to talk between songs. He's preoccupied with sex, but it was funny. Trent Reznor didn't say much at all once NIN was onstage. He said thank you a couple times and a few other things, but he was pretty silent, aside from singing. I especially loved when he performed "Hurt." I love that song, and it was so awesome live.

Jess (a friend of Shane and Missy's, both of whom I met through Chuck) was having her baby shower in Seattle while I was there, so I was invited. I was excited to finally meet her. But I got my dates wrong. Blarg. Missy was going to be coming over and giving me a facial to help out with her Mary Kay stuff that she's getting into. Well, I had thought that she was coming over on Saturday night and that Jessie's baby shower was on Sunday, but I was wrong. And so, I had been waiting for Missy's arrival when I should have been trying to find my way to Jessie's mom's house. I even had a present for her. I'll have to send that later in the mail.

Saturday afternoon, Chuck and I had gone to see "Corpse Bride." The price for two tickets was $13.50. I said to Chuck, "Oh wow, that's exactly how much it is in Hayward, unless you go to a matinee. What's the matinee price here?"

Chuck said, "That is the matinee price!" Holy crap! Seattle's quite expensive. But I think their minimum wage is higher too.

Anyway, "Corpse Bride" wasn't too bad, but I guess I had expected something different. It didn't end how I had wanted it to and it was pretty dang short. Also, this is kind of stupid, but I was disappointed at how Johnny Depp's voice sounded in the movie. He didn't sound like himself. I figured, what's the point of having Johnny Depp voice the main guy if he isn't going to sound like Johnny Depp? That guy could have been anyone.

Missy and Richard came over Sunday night and we did facials! It was fun! I don't have any pictures, though. Oh well. We even got Chuck to do the skincare stuff! Missy, to convince him to help her out, told him that she wouldn't tell anybody, but I didn't make any such promise! Hehe. So there was Chuck putting on various abrasion stuff and lotions to make his skin nice and soft. I realize that guys can do this too, but most don't because it's viewed as unmanly. Chuck certainly doesn't do it.

After facials, Missy and Richard very kindly took Chuck and me out to dinner. Thanks again, Missy!

I made spaghetti for Chuck on Monday night. He had to work that day and I had it ready for him when he got home. It was tasty!

The day after that I had to leave. I never want to, of course. Chuck came with me to the airport and said good-bye to me there.

The plane ride back was equally uneventful. I again looked out for swimming pools.

The shuttle back to Eau Claire was packed. That always sucks. I didn't say much that time. I was sitting next to two old ladies who talked to each other half the time and slept the other half. The people behind me were chatting about their worldly travels, and the people in front of me were silent. One of those people happened to be an attractive young blonde woman (maybe around 22) who was wearing a really short denim skirt and a sweater buttoned halfway up over a skimpy tank top that showed off her cleavage. She listened to music on her headphones the whole time.

The reason I bring her up is because the first thing my dad asked me when I stepped off the shuttle was, "So, what's the babe's name?" Mom just groaned and rolled her eyes.

I said, "I don't know."

Dad said, "What?! You don't get to know your fellow passengers?"

"Well, she listened to music the whole time. She's one of those people. She doesn't say much, like me. I didn't feel like talking either."

So, that was kinda funny, because my dad likes to joke around like that. Mom wasn't seriously upset. She knows he's just being Dad.

It always sucks leaving Chuck, but luckily, he recently found out he's got vacation time. Five days worth. So, he'll be here soon to visit me. Probably in early November. A whole nine days! Yay! I can't wait!

Oh, and the suckiest part of the trip was the fact that when Shane and Mary were around it felt awkward. I don't know what to say to them anymore. I feel like they hate me for breaking up with Chuck before and making him feel awful, even though I don't know that for sure. I hate what I did. I didn't want to hurt him, but now he and I are back in full force, and we're happy. I'm so incredibly happy with him and never want to let him go again. But I wonder if I'm looked upon like some sort of monster. I was actually scared to pass Shane and Mary in the living room. They'd be out there watching TV or talking or Shane would be on the computer while Mary read a magazine, and I would stay shut in Chuck's room, afraid even to come out and use the bathroom, and so I held it for a really long time. But I used to be good friends with Mary, so this makes me really sad. I said one word to her the whole time I was there: "Hello." She said hi back, but that was it. Not even a good-bye from either of us when I left. I feel like an ass, and I'm probably being ridiculous for being scared of them, but I can't help it.

Oh well.
