Okay, so I rarely ever drink anymore, which also means I don't go out much. But I went out three nights this week. And I've found out that in a small town such as Hayward, you see many of the same people out at certain bars every single night. I don't know how they do that. How can a person be at the End Zone practically every night of the week? Good grief.
Anywho, I did have fun each night. Luke texted me Wednesday when I got off work and said to meet him and his friend Jake at the End Zone. We ended up witnessing a scuffle going on between a guy and a girl, with all of their friends split between tossing in insults/support or trying to break it up and calm them down. I guess that happens a lot at the End Zone. Luke, Jake, and I were sitting at a table. "Last time we were here and there was a fight, this whole table got wiped out," Jake said to me as he and Luke got up and started inching towards the bar. Gee, good to know.
The rest of the night was spent warding off drunken strangers who kept coming up to our table to talk to one us about random stuff we didn't care to hear. I listened to some old guy go on and on about his life for about twenty minutes. That's a long time to hear about his old racing days, his daughter, his grandson, and his 11-year-old dog that's full of cancer. I kinda feel sorry for him, though. Maybe he doesn't have too many people to talk to. He was wasted and just barely coherent. I probably would have listened to him longer had a young guy at the bar not come over and tapped him on the shoulder while saying, "Can I talk to my girlfriend for a minute?" I didn't know this young guy, but I sure did thank him. He told me it looked like I needed rescuing. And then he sat down and said, "So, I thought you might wanna talk to me." Great. Get rid of one guy, pick up another. I said sure, but he ended up being so slurry that I could hardly understand him, so I told him I had to go to the bathroom and left. When I came back out, luckily he had moved back to the bar and started talking to someone else.
Friday night I texted Luke about going out again. We started at the End Zone, but it was boring. Nobody we knew there and nothing exiciting happening, so we left after one drink and headed to the Casino. That was better because I played $20 and won $64! I told Luke we were going to Wal-Mart and I insisted he pick something out so I could buy it for him. We ended up each picking out a computer game. He wanted Railroad Tycoon, and I finally decided to check out The Sims 2. Haven't tried it yet, but I'm all excited.
And then there was last night. The best night of them all. St. Patrick's Day, when everyone is jolly and wasted and everything is green. Jake even had green food coloring on him to add to his and Luke's drinks. Oh, and I met two more of Luke's friends - Tracy and Jason. I think they're married. Cool people.
We started at Wild River. The lights were getting to Tracy and the music sucked, so we left for the End Zone soon after. Tracey went home early, but the rest of us partied on until 3am.
Actually, I got to the End Zone before Luke, Jake, and Jason arrived. (God, I LOVE having my own car and my license!) As I was waiting outside for them to get there, a guy came out of the bar and spotted me. "Hey, you're one of those Mobil girls!" All smiley and so extremely cute. He was known only as Sweetheart to Pat and me. He doesn't know that, but that's what we call him when he's NOT at Mobil. He's one of the pipeline workers and has become a bit of a Mobil regular. He always calls us sweetheart ("Hey, sweetheart, how are ya?") when he's there, and we both think he's one damn good-lookin' guy.
So, anyway, Sweetheart was drunk and was just leaving. He told me he was looking for his taxi to take him back home. It hadn't arrived yet, so he and I ended up talking for a while. He told me he'd buy me a drink, which was so nice of him. A guy's never bought me a drink before. And that's not including Luke, Jake, or my relatives. They don't count. :P I told him Miller Lite, so he ordered two of them and we drank them together and talked. Found out his name is Zack. The close quarters/constant bumping was getting to him, so we went outside to talk some more and look for his taxi again.
Oh, man, it was awesome! Talk about GIDDY INSIDE. I kept pretty cool around him, but inside I was screaming. Cute guy talking to MOI? Never happens. I only attract the old, nasty drunks.
Turns out he must have missed his taxi. It had been a while. I was thisclose to asking him if he wanted me to give him a ride, but he said he's staying by Clear Lake and I have no idea where that is. I was afraid I'd never find it, and I figured he'd be no help in his inebriated state. Plus, I was scared he'd try something with me and dude, I haven't shaved my legs in months. I'm never ready for action. I always figure I won't be getting any, so I don't prepare.
Well, he went back in to call the taxi again. I lost him at some point and went to hang with Luke and Jake, who both wondered where the hell I had been. I spotted Zack across the bar talking to some other chicks. He's so friendly - I love it. Honestly, I love that he just talked to any random people. I pointed him out to Luke, and Luke agreed on his hotness factor. I love having gay friends. :) (Oh, and for the record, Jake is NOT gay.)
I figured that since Zack was so engrossed in talking to people, he'd miss his taxi again. And if he did, I had made the stupid decision to ask him if he wanted a ride. But first, I had to use the bathroom. When I came back out, I couldn't find Zack anywhere. You have no idea how disappointed I was. He was gone. I didn't even get to say goodbye. But it was probably for the best that he caught his taxi. Taking him home could have been a big mistake. But I missed him. :( I wonder if he even remembers it all.
I called Pat immediately after and told her that we'd have to give him shit about the whole thing the next time we saw him at Mobil.
Luke was thoroughly trashed by the end of the night and went home. Jake, Jason, and I were jonesing for some Perkins, so I took them over there. Jake turned the dessert menu into an airplane and tossed it at some other customers. The whole time there was hilarious. Then, I dropped Jason off at his house, I dropped Jake off at Luke's house (because Luke had Jake's car), and I went home.
Ah, good times.
