[Once again, Draco is out in the snow - something that seems to be a newly discovered habit of his, despite how often he'll complain about the cold. At the moment, however, the cold seems to be the farthest thing from his mind, judging by the almost tortured expression on his visage: fury, indignation, misery, and a strange flicker of longing for ( Read more... )

Draco?

[After a shakey moment, he yells into the communicator.]

Draco! Come home.

[His voice is harsh - he's clearly not in a very good mood. But there's a hoarseness to it that wasn't present when he was speaking with Potter earlier.]

I thought I told you to sod off.

Don't tell me to sod off, we're past that now, remember?

[He huffs, and then in a softer tone.]

Please just tell me what's wrong. I want to help you.

I don't need your help, Potter.

[The words are scathing, his anger unbidden. Or perhaps he's simply displacing it.]

Draco!

[He sounds hurt. 'Potter'? Sure Draco has called him that, but not in such a manner. With how shot his nerves are from the argument he just had with Ron, he couldn't take something like this.]

Unless you have something to say besides my name, leave me alone.

[It's true - he sounds much more like he had for the better part of the six months they've spent living together. And a voice in the back of his mind brings up the fact that he probably shouldn't be taking this out on Potter, but he stubbornly ignores it.]

Fucking hell, Draco! Look I just want to help you but I can't do that if you're acting all stubborn! What the bloody hell is wrong?

[His voice sounds angry, but also desperate and extremely worried.]

I don't recall saying I wanted your help.

[There's a moment of silence during which Draco is sorely tempted to simply shut off the communicator and be done with it, but that moment passes, and he lets out a frustrated sound.]

But I think it's rather obvious what's wrong. Or are you blind now to go along with being deaf and dumb?

[The venom in his voice hasn't diminished in the slightest, but at least he's talking.]

All I saw was a piece of paper in your hand, I have no idea what you got upset about!

If you want we can talk about this when you get home.

I know it's difficult for you, Potter, but try to use your brain - who else would call me that?

[He's clearly referring to who the letter had been addressed to, sure that even the Gryffindor is capable of making that connection.]

I just- I didn't really see it...

[He pauses and tries to remember. 'My dearest dragon' Sounds like it was from his-]

W-Well... I'd have thought you'd have been happier to get a letter from your mother...

Not this letter.

[There's another span of silence, longer than the one before. Nothing other than the howling of the wind can be heard until Draco speaks again.]

...I'll be there in a bit.

[He intentionally chooses not to refer to the apartment as "home".]

Alright... I'll be in your room when you do.

[Because honestly, where else would Harry be?]
