He isn’t sure how to respond to her statement and all of the nuances it contains. It’s unnerving, and it’s the first time he’s noticed how much goes unsaid between them. He’s never wanted to hold her so badly, never wanted to hear her sing softly to him as much as he does right now. It’d be unacceptable. Such affection stopped as soon as he began to attend school.

[ she's not unfamiliar with the rumors that surround her family, the notion most would keep that they're some sort of heartless beings, different from other witches and wizards. narcissa is perfectly aware because it is a choice on their part. to be contained, sharp- to retain their dignity no matter the cost, throughout the worst of circumstances. -but draco is her son, the one thing she would go to any lengths to protect, dignity be damned- and to all but feel the tremble in his small shoulders, it wrenches the heart in her chest. ]
