Poor Hermes
My Hermes (computer) has an owie. He's been having all these problems and I've thrown various solutions at him until I gave up today because he was getting real unstable. Took him to my local computer doctor and she confirmed what I suspect: his hard drive was toast. Luckily, I had a spare already hooked up, so I took out the busted one and made the (former backup drive) the primary. And managed to get everything backed up to a portable hard drive before the reformatting and Winders install.
This really threw off my anniversary and other plans for the day. But it still ended on a high note. Sadly, I don't think I'll get any anniversary MMOing since I'm still downloading CoH. So maybe we can do that this weekend.
And of course, I still have some drivers to track down (hope I thought to save them this time on the backup drive) and the usual pile of software to install, updates to run, etc. Whee.
