Tired... so tired.

Today was the long day of long. Or it was supposed to be. It ended up being pretty long, but not as long as I had thought.

I worked at the tailor shop from nine to noon. It was the Saint Patty's Day Parade today, so we were slow (the store is on one of the one-way streets that was closed off due to the parade). I didn't really mind though, we were busy enough for those three hours.

Then I called Jon to see if he wanted to make one of the Taco Bob metal signs that we have due soon. He is actually deathly ill, so where I thought I was going to be working with him for three or four hours this afternoon, I actually got to go home and get something to eat.

Still, I thought I should try to make the sign on my own if I could. I couldn't. We didn't have any metal sheets small enough for me to move on my own. *sad*

So, instead I ran errands. I got a gift for the baby shower I'm going to tomorrow, and I finally dropped off the bags of clothes to Good Will. I thought about going in to buy ties, but they were very busy. I remembered why I don't generally go shopping in the afternoon on Saturdays. Yikes there were a lot of people out and about.

I had to pick up a mattress pad from someone at work (Yay, memory foam!) so I headed there from Good Will, but I remembered that I had shoes that need to be repaired in my car, and the shoe place is on the way, so I dropped them off, too.

I picked up the mattress pad, and hit the grocery store for the extra ingredients I will need for the Curried Rice and Lentils I'm making for the shower tomorrow. Then I headed back home to drop stuff off, get something to eat for dinner and head to the show I was running lights for.

I felt very accomplished.

The longest part of the day, despite afternoon traffic on the Main Shopping Drag was the show I ran lights for. It was a Bluegrass show, which I was actually quite looking forward to, simply because I like Bluegrass. Little did I know....

The show was four hours long. This is not all that uncommon, for a live show, except that it was the same six guys playing the entire time. I just don't get it. I know that they were drunk, and they took breaks every hour, but still. Four hours? Crap on a stick.

And the crowd loved every minute of it. It was insane. There were people dancing and trying to get on the stage, like you would at a major rock concert, not a tiny little show like the one in our little theatre (if there were 150 people there, I'll eat my hat). People were moshing in the dance area, for Heavens' sake. I mean seriously.

The upside? Bluegrass is great to listen to (although not for four hours when I have no choice) and really hands off as far as lights go, so I'd set an appropriate color scheme, and leave it for the length of a song--usually fifteen minutes. And then I'd read my book. I have... 25 pages left, of 350, and I was at 150 when the night started. *tired smile*

Man the show was draining. And tomorrow I get up and do the dishes and make food for the baby shower and try not to be late. And maybe sleep when I get back. That would be good. Yeah.

update, ugh, just life
