Oh, the week was long

So, as I posted in my very short "I'm not dead" post, I feel off the face of the internet for about a week. I'm fine, I was just really, really busy.

The story is that I got recruited to be the "Costume Mistress" for the Western Michigan University School of Dance dance show that ran this weekend. They paid me, which is always good, and the reason I took the job, but if I knew now what kind of time commitment it would be, I would have politely declined.

Basically, on top of my two jobs (for which I work forty hours a week, which isn't bad, although I wish I could forty hours at one job), I had to be at the theatre Thursday through Saturday for the run of the show (so that I could make any repairs necessary) and then I had to take the costumes that needed to be laundered over to the University, do the laundry, and then go home and fall into bed.

My days looked like this:

Thursday:
7 am - wake up
9 am - 5 pm - be at work at the tailor shop until 5.
5 pm - run home, grab dinner, go to the theatre
6 pm - 12 am - sit at the theatre through the VERY LONG (they took pictures!) dress rehearsal and wait for someone to come to me with a costume issue.
12 am - go home and collapse into bed. I refuse to do laundry after a 16 hour day.

Friday:
7 am - wake up
9 am - 11 am - go to the university and do the laundry I didn't do last night
Noon - grab lunch with Jon
1 pm - 5:30 pm - Go to work at the fabric store
6 pm - 10:30 pm - Costume Mistress duties (I read and finished a the sixth Dresden Files book)
10:30 pm - 1 am - Laundry. FIVE LOADS. Should have been more but I was DONE with the project at one am. Done. (Also meant I missed BOTH showings of SGA. *pouts*)
1 am - Go home to greet friend from out of town whom I haven't seen in seven years. Stay up (unwisely) until 2:30 catching up. *facepalm*

Saturday:
7 am - wake up
9 am - 11:30 am - work at the Tailor Shop
11:30 am - scramble to the University to pick up the laundry I left over night; realize that some dresses didn't dry completely. o_O;
Noon - 4 pm - Costume mistress duties for the FIRST show of the day
4 pm - 6 pm - I actually got to see Ben for a few minutes when I went home for dinner. *dances*
6 pm - 11 pm - Costume mistress duties for the second show (I finished the seventh book of the Dresden Files, and started the eighth).
11:30 pm - 2:30 am - Spent time with Ben and Abby and Joe (the out of town folks), catching up and talking.

Three days of fourteen to sixteen hour workdays left me for not much time to do ANYTHING. So I apologize to anyone who hasn't received an email back from me in a while (I was still recovering from the two shows I ran LAST weekend when this weekend's mess started).

sardonicsmiley, I especially owe you an apology, as I have been failing you as a beta. I'm so sorry I never got back to you on the Rodney / Teyla thing. I saw on my flist that you had posted up through the fifth (and final?) part, which is exciting. I can't wait to read it. Sorry to be so lame. *frowns*

Hopefully, this week will be slower. Or, at any rate, less hectic and busy. I might actually get something written. Or beta'd. Or sewn. *sighs*

update, job, theatre, just life
