Happy New Year!
Ugh, of course I had to deal with snow on the first day of 2014. The good thing was that there wasn't much traffic since most people get the day off (not me!) I've been dreading the day when I have to drive to work when it's snowing and there's a lot of traffic. I go to work at 8 and even though I'm headed in the opposite direction of all the traffic, there is still plenty of traffic that goes my way too. I don't want to deal with the traffic AND snow.
When I was driving home from work, I nearly had a damn heart attack when my car wouldn't brake! I was coming up to a red light and when I braked, my car didn't stop, it just kept going! It must have been really slippery; my brakes worked before - and after - that little incident, so I don't have faulty brakes....that would have really sucked! Luckily this was the light right before I turn left to be on the street where I live and there wasn't any traffic when I had my near disaster! I managed to stop right under the actual street light!
Speaking of cars, I just realized that I left my awesome mix tape I made in 1993 (yes, it still works, although it's a little scratchy) in my old car that my dad sold to the dealership when we bought my new car. I cannot believe I forgot all about it! I remembered everything else! I guess since it was in the cassette player and I couldn't see it. I guess it really doesn't matter since I don't own anything I can play a tape on, but still, that tape had a lot of sentimental value to me! True, most of the songs that were on it, I already have on iTunes, but there was a great, classic Coke commercial complete with catchy ditty. I don't think I'll be able to find that on iTunes! Maybe You Tube...
I was at Barnes and Noble the other day and I overheard these two girls talking. They were discussing the new Stephen King book and one girl told the other that she had read it on her iPhone. I thought she must have meant her iPad, but no, she then says, "I read all of his books on my iPhone because I have an app." OMG! I can't imagine reading ANY book, let alone a Stephen King tome (his books are LONG!) on a little iPhone screen. My eyes are hurting just thinking about it! That sounds horrible! And you could only probably get two paragraphs at a time!
