Reading John 9:1-7
(3)Jesus answered, "Nether this man nor his parents sinned; he was born blind so that God's works might be revealed in him. (4) We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming when no one can work.
"God works thorough our hands." Rev. Corrado once said in a sermon echoing this passage, intentionally or not. Like Jesus we have to be aware of the opportunities to use our abilities to help our fellow people. His disciples looked to blame someone for this man's affliction and were told...clearly...that he was born this way not out of punishment but so that he would present the opportunity to do God's work.
In today's world there are many opportunities to "work the works," but some of us need to have a Jesus treat us like that blind man: Opening our eyes to the world around us.
Dear god, help me be more like Jesus, doing the necessary work in this world, and less like the disciples seeking to place blame for people's pains, burdens, and conditions.
