Hit and miss.
This is too cool to restrict the subject line to one word. I try, but this one is worth three.
The miss is a close one. Playing the most intense poker tournament of my career thus far, I did pretty damn well. I finished 71st of 1387 entrants. I was just 41 places short of securing a place in the $1,000,000 first prize tournament. I will continue to try.
The hit is that I've just been offered (and accepted) a promotion at work! A $15,000 p/a pay rise and a whole heap of new responsibilities is well and truly exciting. I'm so pumped about this new job, because it means I can start actually having a real say in how the company runs.
Looking back over my 20 months as a permanent employee, I've been promoted on average once every 7 months since I started working at iiNet. Gotta love the opportunity!
I was so stoked, I called my wife and my dad within minutes of receiving the anticipated phone call. I knew I was going to get notice today, but it would have been nice to receive it BEFORE 4pm! :P
Who can complain... the executive component of the company sees potential in me. That has to be flattering.
