TOO GENERIC? D:

Ohhhh Godddddd....

Why is it so incredibly hard to come up with a simple idea for an animation!? Most of mine were 'too familiar', apparently. That's because everything's been done before! Angry washing machine? Been done before. Slow animal wanting to go fast? Done before. Magpie going after jewellery? Done before. GAH! I feel a little disappointed in myself... though I consider myself a creative person, I have massive difficulty in coming up with anything original. That's probably why I do so much fanart- I just can't come up with anything new. I've got some technical skills, but no actual... imagination. I'm in art school... I should be good at this stuff! :(

Our tutor told us all that our drawing styles were 'too generic' as well, which is fair enough- I need to come up with an original style of drawing, but ughhhh it's so hard to break out of what you're used to. And I got confused! One minute they said, "Try something completely different- experiment!" and then the next minute they were all, "Play to your strengths... do what you know you're good at."

Now I'm stuck with a stupid pet shop idea... but it isn't even an idea yet. Just a setting. I'm trying desperately to think of any simple, short happenings that could occur in such a place. I've got nothing. I kinda wanna get rid of the stupid pet shop and start all over again...

HAHAHA Today was depressing.

animation, real life
