I havent updated in forever.

Mitch is moving to Boston (er, Waltham) in August, so he will go to grad school at Brandeis University. Kind of sucks to be 2 1/2 hours away, but it could be worse. Its an easy drive to make, and one can make it in an evening. Im imagining lots of long weekends followed by insane weeks so that I can HAVE those long weekends.

I finished watching the entire series of Sex and the City. I admit that was a rather self indulgent purchase, but im so glad I have them all at my disposal in a pretty pink fake suede book. Ah, the last 2 episodes. They really made me cry, it was so good. I watched them over again too, and cried again, too.

My research is going well. I'll probably get 2 papers published this year. In the fall, I need to have my candidacy exam, which is a glorified presentation of what Ive done so far, and what I plan to do for my thesis. You have to have some major problems in order to fail your candidacy. The good thing is that I get to personally pick my committee (who will judge both the candidacy and my thesis defense, which will be in May 2008). It will be my advisor, our collaborator, my math teacher from last semester, and 2 others I need to think of. People I like and respect. Theres a new prof from Korea, and he is really nice and has good ideas. Maybe I'll pick him. hmm.

Im going to a conference at the end of this month in Boston. Its a week long, and falls on my birthday. Oh well, I guess birthdays will keep going downhill from here on in. But at least I'll be in Boston. I'll have a huge hotel room all to myself, and the conference is in the actual hotel. Yeah its a big Marriot. Its the New England Conference on Complex Systems. I'll probably be the only graduate student there. ugh. Or at least, the only female non-chinese one. Thats a given. I didnt have anything professional to wear (hey, Ive been in school that long), so last weekend I spent a lot of money at Express and Macy*s. But I found things that fit me really well and wont go out of style (probably).

And the highlight of it all: last night my plantars wart came off of my foot. I had one on each heel, and they've been there for years. I used the dr scholls patches for a couple weeks, and last night after soaking it, I scrubbed the hell out of it (it didnt hurt.. on one foot). And next thing I know the dead white skin came off.. on one foot. Well, I did it to the other foot and... it hurt and started to bleed. ehh. I'll keep trying.
