My parents have had the last week off and started by getting my sister and I to help clean the entire house (somehow my sister got out of most of the jobs. Sometimes it really sucks being the eldest.) My mum is complaining about how much time I spend in the fandom, apparently it would be better if I stopped and started my own novel. I'm so glad it's the weekend and they lay off a bit.
*Must watch final of Dance X tonight- Bruno's group to win.*

Chapter Three
‘I want you to want me,
I need you to need me,
I’d love you to love me,
I’m beggin’ you to beg me’
- I want you to want me by Cheap Trick
It had been a week since Megan had seen Zacharias with Su and she couldn’t be happier. It meant he was spending more time with Megan, not that he noticed her flicking her silky red hair and fluttering eyelashes. Zacharias was now sitting infront of her talking with Ernie about their latest Transfiguration homework. Megan stared dreamily at her oldest friend as he laughed at something Ernie said.
“Megan, are you listening?” Susan asked impatiently. Megan nodded and reluctantly broke her gaze from Zacharias. “No you weren’t.”
Of course Megan hadn’t been listening to a word Susan was saying but there was no harm pretending. She scoffed as Susan complained again and returned to her arthimancy homework. She could feel Susan’s eyes boring into the back of her head. Megan couldn’t stand it when her friend was right, which was most of the time. ’Just concentrate on the numbers, not Zacharias’. Megan found her eyes wandered back to him, but he didn’t look back; he was too busy making notes. Megan sighed deeply. She knew Susan would be glaring at her now; raising her eyebrows at Megan’s glazed over eyes.
“I hope you know what you’re doing.” Megan shot round at her friend, who didn’t even look up from the parchment she was writing on.
“Excuse me?” Megan hissed at Susan making sure no one would overhear them. “I’m not doing anything, well not yet.” When Susan didn’t say anything and only gave her a pitying smile, Megan stormed out of the common room, hauling her books and bag with her.
The sixteen year old stomped up the corridors and stairs, hoping to get some peace away from her friends, as awful as that sounds. Megan knew she shouldn’t have snapped at Susan who was only looking out for her, but Megan had inherited her aunt Gwenog’s short fuse. Both would loose their temper at almost anything; everyone said it was the red hair.
“Fucking cliché.” Megan said out loud as she reached the library. Her mood hadn’t improved as she took a seat at a rickety table; not only was Madam Pince stalking the bookshelves wondering who had just swore but a few tables down, opposite the charms section, sat Su Li the girl who had stolen Zacharias heart, or so it seemed.
“Always thought she was a slag.” Megan turned to see Hannah Abbott watching the pair. She was shocked that Hannah of all people would come out with that word.
“Why what happen…”Megan stopped, suddenly realising Su’s hand was wandering up the boy’s thigh. “Moves on quick don’t she.” Megan snapped. Su and the Ravenclaw boy were now kissing, their hands beginning to wander. Megan pulled a face of disgust; Su and Zacharias only agreed to take a break a week ago and Su was going out or maybe just sleeping with someone else.
“So much for no pda.” Hannah sat down on the other stool and turned back to Megan.
Megan raised her eyebrows expecting Hannah to say something. She didn’t. Megan shrugged and went back to her arthimancy homework and avoided talking to Hannah as much as she could. It wasn’t that she didn’t like Hannah, she was a decent girl, but Megan found her so sweet and good natured it was nauseating and slightly unrealistic, and Megan didn’t like clichés. The rest of the hour passed quickly and to Megan’s relief her homework was finished and she hadn’t spent the entire time thinking of Zacharias.
“So what lesson have you got next?” Hannah asked as they walked out of the library.
“Muggle studies.” Megan replied and when Hannah wanted to know if she enjoyed it, Megan refrained from saying no because she was stuck in a classroom with Ernie.
True to his nature Ernie was already there when Megan arrived at the classroom on the second floor. The classroom was busy and making sure the professor was talking to someone else, Megan pulled out her latest copy of the Quibbler and a pack of chocolate frogs.
“I almost caught Justin and Sally-Anne kissing last week.” Ernie said calmly. Megan almost choked on her chocolate frog.
“Justin and Sally-Anne?” Megan couldn’t believe it; the pair were complete opposites.
“I know I was shocked too.”
“You should really stop gossiping Ernie.” Megan teased. Ernie always responded in return ‘Boy’s don’t gossip. I’m only informing you of something I know.’ This time all he did was glare at Megan as the Professor turned to the whole class, explaining they would be learning about muggle music.
“Maybe this lesson won’t be so bad.” Megan thought as a the muggle music began to play.
Megan didn’t see her best friend Susan until the end of the day. They made their way to the greenhouses quickly, despite irritating Hufflepuff third years trying to get their attention. Behind the first greenhouse, surrounded by Professor Spout’s prized muggle plants, was a small clearing just big enough for two people. It had been Megan and Susan’s spot since their first year, only now in their sixth, the topics of conversation were corridor gossip, boys and the war. Their talks were now accompanied by a bottle of butterbeer and the occasional cigarette.
Megan handed the bottle of butterbeer to Susan who drowned a quarter of it straight away. The pair had skipped dinner and brought a couple of pieces of toast, not wanting to sit in the hall with excited first years and Ernie’s daily report of lessons.
“What did you think of Ginny and Dean’s rather public display of affection?” Megan asked, placing a cigarette between her full lips and lit it with a muggle lighter. The smell lingered on her clothes and she frowned; she’d get a lecture of Ernie later.
“I could have vomited.” Susan replied bluntly. “It’s a good job Ron Weasley wasn’t there, he would have decked Dean.” Susan snorted and took the cigarette out of Megan’s hand. Megan rolled her eyes as Susan took a drag and leant her head back against the cold glass of the greenhouse. “Merlin I feel like a rebel.”
Megan laughed and snatched the cigarette out of Susan’s hands. “Susan you’re only smoking, it’s not like your skipping classes and taking drugs.”
“I know but we Hufflepuffs’ aren’t supposed to.”
“True.” Megan responded, thinking of something to say back before Susan could start ranting; too late.
“Everyone favours Gryffindor, just because they’re brave and noble.” Susan paused. “And they have Harry bloody Potter who apparently will save us all. Didn’t save Aunt Amelia did he?” Susan sipped the last of the butterbeer and stared at the ground.
“Suze you don’t have to forget about her you know.”
“Some Slytherin said something about her before I met you, and I heard Lavender mention Harry was the ‘chosen one’.” Megan wrapped her arms around Susan and let her fall silent for a few minutes.
“Thanks.” Susan sniffed. “Now get off you’re going to suffocate me.” Susan laughed and hit Megan playfully on the arm.
Megan giggled and helped Susan up. The two linked arms as they walked across the hard ground, talking in whispers. Dinner was over and they had to push their way through crowds of students to the Hufflepuff basement. Megan hated the girls who chased after her wanting popularity with the older students. They followed her around and kept asking for advice on everything from Arthimancy homework, even though Susan was clearly better, to what colour lip gloss to wear. One of the girls, Rebecca Vane, was shouting after her when Megan stepped through the common room door.
“Megan I need your help.” Rebecca was a fourth year with a rather prominent chin and large dark eyes. She had a twin sister Romilda in Gryffindor who shared the same giggly reputation, but Rebecca was fair as her sister was dark. “I’ve got a date to Hogsmeade and I don’t know what to wear.”
“Isn’t Hogsmeade a fortnight away?” Megan raised one eyebrow as she read the sign on the notice board.
“Well yes, but this date is very important.” Rebecca swept her long blonde hair over her shoulder and threw her hands in the air as she spoke. Megan suppressed a smirk at the fourth year’s dramatics. “What do you think?” Rebecca brought out a knee length baby blue dress out of its’ packaging. It was frilly around the bottom and no doubt her twin had one in pink. In Megan’s honest opinion the dress was hideous. Rebecca was looking at her expectantly, biting her bottom lip.
“It’s a bit much for Hogsmeade.” Megan replied as honestly as she could. The girls face fell. “Wear that green top you were wearing the other day.”
“Thank you Megan.” Rebecca ran forward and hugged her tightly before running off with her friends.
“I thought you didn’t like her?” Megan turned at the voice.
“Zacharias, I thought you had charms club.”
“It got cancelled. I didn’t think you’d voluntarily talk to Rebecca Vane.” Zacharias slumped into a black chair next to the fire and kicked off his shoes.
“She practically jumped on me. Anyway her sister’s far worse.” Megan collapsed next to him, ignoring Susan’s warning looks from the other side of the room. “Why are your robes wet?” Megan asked only just noticing his wet cloak.
“Quidditch, we got caught in the rain.” Zacharias cleared his throat. “I’ve got homework to do, so I’ll see you in a bit.”
Megan watched him almost run up to the boys dormitories. There was something he wasn’t telling her and she was going to find out what it was. Megan Jones did not like secrets.
