life changes

This past week has been a difficult week.  Dropping off Deuce so he could be re-homed was difficult, but I did EVERYTHING I could to make the transition easier for him....gave Cheri the towel he and Lady used when on my bed, included his scratching post, the rest of the food we fed them and my sleep shirt that I had used for 2 nights, and his food bowl.  We took him into an exam room at the vet Heartland Humane Society uses and were able to say good-bye to him and as we walked out the vet tech gave me a hug that was genuine.  As we were leaving, I saw that Cheri had parked on the side of the building, so I stopped to talk, but there was a car behind me and she was unloading food.  I pulled up so the car could get by me and then got out and told her a few things about Deuce and how appreciative I was...she isn't a warm and fuzzy type person.  I had also donated $100 toward whatever expense they would experience or to the care of other animals and it was a very luke-warm thank you.  It wasn't as if I decided I didn't want Deuce any longer...Ed's state of health is at risk.

Then...Wednesday, we took Lady to our vet to be euthanized since she had a cancerous growth under her right front leg and I knew she would either live at the shelter the rest of her life or end up in pain from the cancer...she was a fighter!  The tranquilizer took a longer than usual time to take effect, but once Dr. Meyer gave her the shot, she was gone in about 30 seconds.

And the next day, Ed had cleared out all the scratching posts we had around the house, the two litter boxes and the window sun bed that was at my bedroom window.  It was so hard walking into the house without Deuce meowing that "it's time to eat"

He is now on the "adoptable list" with an explanation of what happened and Cheri did a great job of giving him a good brushing...something that I had let go over the past few months with dealing with Ed.

Work was also a bad week for me in meeting my "AHT" (average handle time) for my calls...most were 6:30 up to 8 minutes...way above the 5:30 and below that is "meeting expectations".  I don't understand how so many of the reps can get their calls done in 3 minutes

Oh well.  Tomorrow is the beginning of a new week and hopefully I will do better with my calls.  One can only hope.  And...to top it off, Ed's been pretty crabby this weekend...always judging the way I drive and then the voice and tone raises and it ends up in a mess!

I'm off on Tuesday, but it won't be very relaxing...8:50 dental appointment for cleaning and it's not with my usual hygenist, then an 11:30 appointment with my financial advisor to get Ed's 403B transferred over into an account of his own or added to mine, a 1:45 doctor appointment for my 3-month diabetes check (but I asked that Ed be seen also so we could discuss his care and issues to decide if we should spend the money to use a "concierge" type physician and transfer care to him.  Dr. K has 3000 patients I'm betting, so Ed has been unable to see him and had to see the nurse practitioner....and to round out the day, we have a counseling session at 5 p.m.

Going to work will be less stressful, I'm sure!
