Went to the eye doctor yesterday and no wonder I can't see...my Rx changed...my eyesight is actually BETTER? WTF? Doesn't make sense, but whatevah...just get me new contacts so I can see! (too bad I couldn't wait until May when it would be covered by the vision insurance). blergh...$140 ~~ yikes!
It was Sloppy Joe dinner at church, so that means Ed and I serve dinner...not bad, we only do this once a month. BUT...Phil and Stephanie are in India, so my BiL Doug was in charge of the "mini-service" and I wanted to hear what "Reverend Doug" would be talking about...so I made sure I could dump some of my duties onto my hubby and sat in on the service. Doug did a pretty good little chat about being content with what we have and told a story about buying his "new" car; actually his used car...he had been driving a 93 Mazda Protege that had 130,000 miles on it and he puts 400 miles on it a week so he needed a "replacement". He and my sister had been saving for a car and had agreed on an amount but he found an Acura he fell in love with that was $1000 more and he was going to Just Finance it..what the heck, but she intervened and reminded him of the budget...
Did you know that in the 1960's the average size of a home as 1,100 sq. feet? Back then there were more children. There were NO self-storage units and now this is a (some outrageous number)billion dollar biz. Nowdays we live in larger homes with 3 car garages with less people living in them, and yet most of the population is not content.
So, that was the juxt of his "sermon". He put a few quotes from Martin Luther and some "factoids" from the Bible. But, all in all, for a lay person, he did a good job and gave me a lot to think about, especially after buying the TWO Cole Haan purses ;-)
I talked with my cousin Jeff from Minneapolis and talked to him about a trip to the Upper Peninsula this summer. We're going to try to coordinate one with he and his girlfriend Dawn and "Eddie" and I. *giggles*~~he's the only one I've ever heard call my husband Eddie. It only takes him 8 hours to drive from Minneapolis to Houghton/Calumet while it will take us around 13, if we drive straight through. We'll see.
I guess that will be some of our "refund" money. When Jeff asked me when we were thinking about going...it was a D'oh moment...{"Ah Jeff...sometime this summer...July/August"} Who wants to go up the the Lake Superior region earlier than that???? I'm just wondering if there is ANYTHING to do up there? Buehler? Buehler?
aucontraire??? Whatcha do in the summer in God's Country?
Doug and Char are going to a "Soul-Mate" marriage seminar given by Leslie and Les Parrott at another church on March 4 and he wanted to know if we wanted to have Kelsie spend that Friday night with us (he wants to make a mini-weekend of it with his loverly wife Char)~~and spend Friday night in a motel with her...(huh/it's in the same dang town..different church/why spend money to sleep in a different bed? BUT...Saturday is my birthday and I'm not sure I want my niece hanging around all day. So, I think I'm going to pass her onto her other Aunt. I just want to have the freedom of having the day open for Ed to cook up some ideas, yanno?
The weather dropped 30 degrees in about 2-1/2 hours today. We got up to about 71 degrees at around 2 and then BAM! ~~ at about 5 it was 41 degrees and we had a tornado watch and it's supposed to get down into the 20s with "snow showers"...okay, let's see IF we get that snow!
Well...just in case...the roads will have slushy stuff on them, I'm going to try to get into the sheets early.
Sleep well my friends!
