June Feri Camp?

Feb 05, 2008 07:41

I have heard rumblings here and there of there being a Feri camp somewhere in New Hampshire in June. But searching online for any info has gotten me nowhere. If anyone can give me some information, that would be great! If there is going to be one, I have to start planning for it financially and to take time off from work.

Thanks!

Amy

I'm hosting the event, so I can fill in some of the details -- final details (exact cost, etc) are being worked out now, so a more formal announcement will be spread far and wide after they're finalized.

Dates are scheduled around the last weekend of June, 26-29, camp duration looks like it will be the same as last year (Thursday evening through Sunday mid-day). Teaching team is Karina, Michelle, Storm and Thorn. I'l attach an excerpt of general site info below (tho' you can probably ignore the bits about fireplaces and wood stoves in June!), but for transportation either Boston Logan or Manchester, NH (a Southwest hub) are good options, as are Amtrak and various bus services,. For those planning driving time, the site is near exit 13 off I-89, nearest town is Grantham, NH. I think it's very likely that the event will fill to capacity, so once registration forms go out (which will have plenty of additional details), I'd suggest getting them back quickly -- there will be a waiting list once it's full. For those who are coming, I'll look forward to seeing you there!

Facilities:

The event will he held at Tigh Chéilidh, aka the Hermitage, a small intentional community located amongst the woodlands of New Hampshire (accessible from Manchester, NH and Boston Logan airports, Amtrak (White River Junction, VT), and via bus service), surrounded by many thousands of acres of hikeable woods. The site is dedicated to minimizing our carbon footprint and fostering sustainable living while providing a comfortable and restorative space for all. All primary heat and hot water is via carbon-neutral local renewable wood sources, with solar and microhydro projects in the planning stages. As much as possible of the food served onsite is grown locally.

During off times we invite you to wander the woods and streams, read in the common rooms, sit by the fireplace in the house or the wood stove in the barn, drum, sing and play music, or soak in the hot tub in the greenhouse. Sleeping arrangements are dorm style. Houses have cats, but the barn/dorm space is cat free. All participants will have access to the showers and common spaces of the main house, and outdoor showers will be available in the paddock next to the barn.

[EDIT: there will be camping/tenting space available as well]
