Mr. Jamian challenges the GLMRI to continue to expand its program and expertise in the pursuit of solutions to critical issues that are needed for our transportation systems to become more productive and environmentally friendly."

rest of the article makes this seem like an excellent idea. it does say, however, that that this is the "first-ever institute dedicated to the comprehensive study of Great Lakes maritime commerce." i found that a little hard to comprehend, as we've been commercing on the great lakes for some time. if this place has a mission to improve industry while also being environmentally friendly, i'm in full support of such a sweet idea. wouldn't that make UMD a little sweeter, too? i like this idea so much that i'm going to
their website to contact someone about the
ridiculously huge images on their front page (which are cool, but unnecessary for front pages.)
