i am writing this from my roommate's laptop.
why?
because, unsurprisingly, my 4 1/2 year old dell has (finally) crapped out on me.
it's not COMPLETELY dead...yet. but it will no longer charge, and the power cord will no longer stay plugged in. if i hold it in with one hand at just the right angle, it'll work for a little while...as long as i continue to hold it at just the right angle. let my hand slip a little bit, and poof. computer shuts off. lovely.
so today,
i racked up another $1400 in credit card debt.
do i have anywhere near the $1400 needed to pay this off?
absolutely not.
will i, in the near future?
not really.
did i even have that much approved on my credit card?
nope.
i had to get a new credit card to buy this new computer.
the credit card through mac, Juniper, which has a 90-day same-as-cash financing thing. so if i pay off the $990 of the $1400 that i put on that card within 90 days, i don't incur the interest.
if i don't (and..i won't)...
my APR is 22.37%.
lovely.
can we go back and revisit the fact that i work two food service jobs?
can we talk for a second about how, at the cafe, i earn a whopping $8/hr (for what will soon be 34 hrs/week). and at eastside, i earn $9.25 (for what will soon be at least 12 hrs/week)?
and:
it's almost christmastime, which means extra money spent on presents (the very very few presents i'll be buying this year, that is).
i'm starting with a new therapist on thursday, who doesn't take health insurance, and costs $60/session.
i should really be saving, since i have to start paying back my student loans in less than 10 months. and i have to start paying my full monthly car payment ($278) in less than 7 months.
somehow....
this doesn't seem like the best financial situation to be in.
and yet
here we are.
awesome.
at least the computer i'm getting is a mac?
real advice question:
(....would it be awful to apply for another credit card with a lower APR, pay off this Juniper credit card before my 90 days are up, cancel the Juniper, and just pay off this lower-interest credit card as i can?)
