The epic fail of radio advertising... I happened across one made by On Star, you know, the car tracking/whatever system that comes installed on some cars.
So in this commercial, the scene is set in the form of an actual On Star call from a car owner whose car was stolen. The On Star people then call in to the local police and report the car, give them the GPS tracking information, deactivate the vehicle from function, then call back the car owner. The car owner answers and she is ecstatic that they found the car and that the police are driving her to the vehicle.
All of this is perfectly effective and useful to advertise the value of the product and service that they provide. In fact, I generally find that campaign to be one of the better radio advertisements I have heard. The thing that gets me is the last thing that woman says to the On Star lady, "God Bless On Star."
I am constantly astounded by how insipid and superstitious us humans can be...
on star,
insipid,
radio advertising,
