I have to admit to being pretty weirded out by
this article. The basic deal is that a woman convicted 300 years ago of witchcraft in Virginia was exonerated. Nice little fluff piece of news, whatever. But if you look at the entire article you catch the line "On July 10, 1706, Sherwood was dropped into the Lynnhaven River and floated..."
What the HELL? The whole thing about the floating trial was that you DIED when you didn't float, so you were proven innocent but were too dead to enjoy it. I was always under the impression that no one floated. I mean, they tied you up. How the fuck do you float in a river when you're hog-tied?
