well, i rented three movies i've been wanting to see lately. so i will ramble out my thoughts on them now. didn't get to see jarhead. might have to go on my own or with my dad. no biggie. will drag mom to Chicken Little.
Meet the Parents - i remember getting bits and pieces of it when beth watched it one time while i was doing homework and thinking it sounded funny. MY GOD it was boring, though. i think i spent most of the time feeling kind of sorry for Focker, 'cause he was just trying to do his best and the bitch's father was being a dick and she wasn't bothering to stand up for him. like, there were a few funny parts at the very end, but they sure as hell weren't worth the other hour and a half or whatever. also, i felt like there was a lot more potential there that wasn't taken advantage of. like, jack was former CIA, and really could've stood to be more intimidating and less just generally assholish. like, actually *physically* intimidating or something.
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - this got a lot of bad press, but i thought it was actually pretty good. it did a lot to really bring the book to life (ps - beth, i need to get that back to you; it got left in my car), since the book felt a little flat description-wise. sadly, douglas adams is not too talented in writing clear, effective description. the strange 90 degree right turn in the screenplay kinda threw me for a loop (ideas flyswatters? huh? maybe some sort of vogon beaurocratic weirdness), but i felt like the spirit of the book was more or less preserved. i suppose some of the back-and-forth british rythm was taken out of the humor, for the sake of time and making sense to americans, but that's what happens when a film is made for an american audience. fave moment: "we're going on the hunch of a man whose brain is powered by lemons?!" oh, and zaphod was a bit overdone i thought. he seemed less "dashing" and more just "generally crazy." though he was kind of cute when he had his mouth shut. of course, there is nothing bad i can say about anything alan rickman does because it would be against my religion. of course, he never does anything i can say anything bad about, so that's probably part of it. anyway. he made a good marvin-voice. oh, and the "thanks for the fish" song? that was a BAD IDEA. so i'm kind of in the middle of the road about this movie. though i can't say it's as bad as everyone's been telling me.
Robots - really cool, natch. hard to not like something wherein robin williams is a voice talent. ewan mcgregor also did a good job, though he sounded a touch flat in a part or two. of course, i would too if i was trying to hide my accent. bluesky did a good job making his robot look just like him. good char design, great moments, wonderful environments and choreography. my only complaint might be that it felt a little short, but mostly because of the fact that i wanted more of the awesomeness.
Oh, and I just figured out that I like
My Chemical Romance. Or at least, I like their singles. Dude, check out their latest video, "Ghost of You". It's on the site. Really emotional. Also, the front man's kinda hot when he's not wearing a burr cut.

and when did ozzie become an actor?
