Ladies and gentlemen,
Let it be known that I, Fera J. Festiva of the county of East Sussex, have composed an illustration, depicting two members of the esteemed Phoenix Society of London.
The etching was composed using a Photo-Shop, a fascinating device that can be attached to one's difference engine and thusly used in the pursuit of artistic endeavour.
A larger version of this etching may be found
in the Festiva section of the Deviant Art Gallery Perhaps you are interested to hear more about these enigmatic gentlemen, whom we witness in the midst of one of their thrilling missions in the Phoenix Society's ongoing battle against the infamous Ministry of Evil.
The gentleman on the left is Sirius Black, disgraced former heir to the Black fortune; Mr Black's companion is the eminent scholar of lunar informatics and animalian fluidity, Mr Remus Lupin, esq. The pair were recruited to the Society by its mysterious founder, although their precise employment is, of course, well-concealed.
Regrettably, precious little more is known about these gentlemen, for while their adventures have been well documented elsewhere, the reader finds herself hungering for a deeper familiarity. It is known that together, Mr Lupin and Mr Black were responsible for the invention of a difference engine capable of following any man without need for human or mechanical spies. Additionally, Mr Black has often spoken in jest about his desire to invent a steel horse capable of flight; such fanciful imaginings serve as evidence that even members of the Phoenix Society are permitted amusements!
The pair are confirmed bachelors, eschewing the considerable charms of the fairer sex for a life amongst their books and inventions in the elegant town flat bequeathed to Mr Black by his relative, Sir Alphard Black, member of the Sordeo Club and notorious opium addict.
