HAHAHAAH same reaction here. i'm pretty sure i yelled something like "oh god i can't believe you put your dick in her". i'm not a het hater or anything, but the idea of remus and tonks having sex is... urgh...
and Harry sees "the shadow of the wolf upon his human face" which I can't decide if I like or not. I think mostly it sounds like the sort of cliche that shows up in MWPP-era fic (up there with mating for life, "amber orbs" for eyes and Lily's gaydar)
ugh, for real. i'm so tired of remus struggling against the influence of TEH WOLF or whatever.
Oh, and he says, "My kind don't usually breed", which makes me wonder:
i talked about this with oddsbobs on my lj, because i just couldn't believe that *nobody* in the wizarding world knew if lycanthropy was hereditary or not. how come they weren't told about it in DADA class? how could *remus* not know? he's been a werewolf for, like, 30 years and it didn't come up, even once? it just sounds like a stupid, inbelievable and absurd way to give remus more angst.
oh um. i actually think remus went a bit insane in this book. he is a total wreck. which is part of why i'm glad he died in the end. yeah, he's a coward when it comes to his personal issues, but... maybe he *was* trying to protect tonks and the fetus, who knows. it sounded like a cheap excuse to get away from her, yes, but maybe he thought he was doing the right thing. i didn't really buy it. i just think he's panicking and wants to gtfo of that trainwreck of a relationship. i don't blame him, but that's not really the way to go about it.
i'm really trying to be reasonable here, but truth be told i hate R/T so much that i cheered when remus wanted to abandon her. i don't give a crap that there's a baby in the middle or that remus ends up looking like a douchebag.
on the other hand, if harry and co. had let him go with them, *then* remus could've started regretting his decision and doing some thinking of his own, instead of letting harry tell him off, and decided that tonks was more important and that he wanted to stay with his family after all, and left (because, with the way things went in canon, it sounds like remus went back to tonks but didn't even want to be there, and only did it because he felt guilty). then we would have actually seen remus missing tonks and his feelings for her, because he sure didn't act like he loved her (much less *say* it) even once in the whole book.
the downside of that is that i would have vomited all over myself. i think i prefer the bitter, dysfunctional, doomed-to-failure R/T.
or - when he says, "my kind", is he or is he not totally talking about being gay, yes or yes?

i liked that. it was so unflattering (it helps that i think babies are gross, creepy little creatures). i seriously loled IRL.
and here we start with the dumbledore backstory. i skipped most of that when i read the book because i had... zero interest. still have zero interest.
The scars on Harry's hand ache, because Umbridge is just that evil, or possibly as a cheap dramatic device that's worked in the past, who knows.
naybe it's becoming a psychosomatic thing. XDD like, this crackpot doctor i went to see once told me that my weak ankles were not, in fact, a consequence of several badly-healed sprains, but were caused by MY TRAUMATIC PAST, or something along those lines. basically that every time i was stressed, worried, having a bad time, whatever, i would randomly twist my ankles while i walked or ran. yeah, ok.

I agree with you on Remus joining the trio for the Quest - if he had to go through the whole stupid thing with Tonks, it might have been nice to actually see it rather than just getting told later, "Yah they got back together, nothing more to see here". Dumb. I hate the ship too, but I also hate that he hates it too and in hating it he's nothing like the Remus I liked in earlier books.
I dunno. Right now I'm just way too excited about Dumbledore and also incredibly hungover to construct a proper argument. :P

In the light of recent news I have suddenly become interested in Dumbledore's backstory, but up until about half an hour ago my interest was pretty much zero too.
nah... i thought the gay!dumbles revelation was cool, but i'm still pretty uninterested.
