Old-school post: fic recs
1) I am really happy with the casting for the Twelth Doctor. :]
(I want to write a post about My Thoughts On Doctor Who and why I actually prefer the Moffat era to the RTD one and why I think you can be a feminist and want a male Doctor, and things like that, but I'm struggling to do so and also I'm still always a bit scared of wank so I might come back to that one.)
2) It has been SO LONG since I did a rec post and I have no idea if this will be of any use to anyone, but I am doing Welcome To Night Vale fic recs below this cut!
ø More Than Weather by JumpingJackFlash: "Cecil is tongue-tied when he's with Carlos, but he's never at a loss for words when he's on the air". This is both romantic and hot - I've come back to it several times (so to speak).
ø Carlos feels pain (and likes it), a fill on
nightvalecommunitykink. Cecil can't feel pain, but Carlos can, so Cecil is always very gentle, until he isn't. Fuck me, I caught fire.
ø Recruitment Practices by ThingsWithWings. Crossover with Community! Abed, Troy and Annie interview for positions at Night Vale radio. I didn't know I needed this fic until I read it and wow, I am really happy I did. :D
ø The House in Desert Creek by EHyde. This one is a crossover with Doctor Who and again, it works really well. It's done in the style of the actual podcast, complete with weather section!
(I feel like this is a fandom that lends itself very well to crossovers, actually. I'm looking forward to seeing more - I know there's a Parks and Rec one out there as well as several with Supernatural.)
ø How I Survived My Summer Vacation, by Tamika Flynn, Age 12 3/4 by ThingsWithWings. Based on the happenings in the Summer Reading Program episode, Tamika Flynn/OFC, scary librarians, beautifully done.
ø The Rat and the Ruby Slippers by indigostohelit. Carlos in Desert Bluffs. :O
