I HAD A BIRTHDAY AND OMG IT WAS GREAT AND I HAD THE BEST TIME AND I GOT THE BEST PRESENTS AND I HAVE SOME AWESOME FRIENDS OUT THERE AND OMG, I REALLY AM A LUCKY GIRL.

This will be a post in which I basically talk about how fucking great my life is and the wicked cool birthday presents I got, so feel free to avoid it. It will contain:

☆ Horrible Histories!
☆ Sherlock!
☆ Anthropomorphic animals kicking each other!
☆ Knitting!
☆ Sex!
☆ LOTS LOTS MORE
☆ Although not by any means all the presents I got, because there were too many, and it's not because I don't love them, it's that this is an edited highlights post

☆ An exciting link

lefaym wrote me my very own Sherlock reunion fic, OMG, hearts in my eyes. You can find it here: Real. This story is so lovely and sweet and heartfelt. I feel like writing gift fic is a bit of a dying art, which made this gift even more special. I adore it. ♥

☆ Animal violence

Here is the main present I got from my dear friend o_deanna.

Because I am an idiot, I am writing this at work and the card containing information about this picture is at my house, so I can't tell you the artist's name. >_< But the picture is something like 150 years old and features a fish kicking a sort of vole thing up the arse. WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING. I love it. Wonderful.

☆ A tiny crafting horse

This was my main gift from my dearest Underlord. Backstory: we watched (the first series of) My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic together and we found it awesome. My favourite pony is Rarity because she is right classy and slightly camp, and because she makes things. The Underlord had been very secretive about my present and working on something for months, and finally I got it, and it was this: a tiny scale model of Rarity's workshop, built from scratch! :')

I've included a ruler in the picture so you can see how tiny she is! She and most of the surroundings are made from resin putty, with details made from wood and foam board and paint. Isn't she fantastic? The tiny sewing machine OMG. :3

☆ A vintage sex comic

From Holland. Not much to say about it except that it's awesome, but have some pictures!

☆ Knitting patterns

This is a set of 80s knitting patterns which allow you to make your very own jumper featuring Charlie Chaplin, Sooty, or Count Duckula.

An obvious collection, you'll agree. This was given to me because I was a proper Duckula fan when I was about 7. You could even call it my first fandom. In fact, I was such a massive fan that... I actually had this exact Duckula jumper. One of my aunt's friends knitted it for me. Same colour and everything.

Special mention also goes to this pattern. Woe betide the child whose parents send him/her to school in a yellow jumper with Igor on it.

☆ Artefacts from the past

My wonderful Dad made me a scrapbook of interesting and significant things from throughout my life. There are way too many to post them all, but here is my absolute favourite: my parents ran a sweepstake on the day I'd be born. Dad won, and my older sister has written "FIX" next to it. I love this so much - I had no idea they'd done this, but it is so, so in-character for my dad, who used to run a betting pool on the outcome of Wacky Races when he was a student. XD

Other things from the album that I particularly liked included postcards from my parents when they went away on dirty weekends, and several school reports where I've had to self-evaluate and I've written things like "I find this easy, but it is also very boring".

☆ And finally: a message from an extremely unexpected source

So, the backstory to this one: sitting in the pub on my birthday evening, and my dear friend
youmademe_miss had already given me several mind-blowingly good presents, including the jumper patterns and sex comic. Then she said, rather enigmatically, "I've got one more thing to give you," and handed me a card. She'd already given me a card, so I was intrigued and a bit confused.

Opened it, and saw this:

... What is that sticking out? A postcard?

... OMG it is! And look at the back...

It's signed by almost all the main cast of Horrible Histories! OMG!

But the best part of all is the inside of the card (hover over to read if you can't make this out):

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH OMG! My very own birthday card from Larry Rickard! I've been into Horrible Histories for ages and I have the massivest crush on Laz (OK, on several of the cast members, but Laz best of all) right now and, OMG, I can't. You know when you're all speechless and mad and flailing? Pretty much that. It was a mind-blowingly good thing to receive and I will treasure it for a very long time. :3

In conclusion: I'm so privileged to be surrounded by kind people. :3

yaaaaaaaaay, friends, fandom, the festiva clan, omfg, sherlolz, birthdays, squee, horrible histories, cartoon horses
