So, let's see. What's new.
Well, we had an Earthquake this morning. Roughly 5.0 where I am, felt as far away as Michigan and Ohio. Originated in Quebec about 50 km north of Gatineau. No major damage anywhere that I've heard of. Worst to happen at work was a paper towel dispenser falling off the wall in the men's room. I thought my apartment had gotten away without any real damage, then I saw that one of my Gundam models had face planted on the table. :D
It was funny, kinda. My training class was in this lounge at the top of a set of stairs leading outside, adjacent to the production floor. It started out as "Wow, that plane's coming in awful low." (the one negative aspect of Primus' location is that it's almost directly in line with and just across the river from one of the main runways at the Ottawa airport) escalated to "What the hell, is he going to land ON us?" then to "Holy crap Earthquake, RUN!" And as we bolted one guy, who sits on the far end of the production floor from the lounge, just blew past us like we weren't there. Obviously some frayed nerves involved in the whole thing. Someone said "should we like get in a door or something?" and the trainer responded "Fuck that, get outside!" So we all got to stand outside for 20 minutes while facilities and the managers figured out what the hell was going on.
It's a bajillion and six degrees tonight with ungodly humidity. Well, 23 jumping to 32 with the humidex according to the Weather Network's website. Still fucking hot.
New job's cool, like Convergys but everyone's lazy. :D Still need to learn the technology a bit better, and need to learn the tools ALOT better (though that would go better if I actually had passwords for half the tools) I think I'll do ok there. The do, apparently, want CCNA & MCSE if you intend to move up in the company, so I'll have to look into those again in a few months. Cash is going to be a little tight at least for this week, we started at the start of a pay period. So this week is pay week, but we don't get paid. And schedule's going to blow, at least for the next few weeks. 9-5 this week and next, but 4-12 for two weeks after that.
So, that's about all I have to share for the moment. See you all later.
