Smallville 5.18 - Fragile
"I may say mean things to you, but I promise to wag my tail and bark."
It's possible I've got that quote wrong, heh.
1. But awwwww, Clark's so good with kids. I like him when he's focused on someone else's struggle with their powers instead of his own. Although, I like it best when said someone actually enjoys his powers -- like Kid Flash.
2. Speaking of kids with crushes on Clark, when Maddie's Grandma drove off with her, I got foreboding Ryan deja vu.
3. I'm glad that Lex isn't taking any more crap from anyone, and he's always hot when he's smacking down, but I thought that the shots at Chloe were not so much cheap, as... lame. Surely Lex can do better than that. Anyway, I'll always be confused, irritated, and saddened by how TPTB handled their relationship, but friends or foes, I think the chemistry is still there :)
4. Lois was more annoying than usual, but I was pleasantly surprised that she took responsibility for losing Maddie. I groaned when Martha made her Chief of Staff, but at least now she has a reason to be in Smallville. Unless she should be in Topeka...
5. Clark was really quite wonderful tonight. So wide-eyed and earnest. Maybe Tom should direct himself more often. The through-the-window shot of Clark with the reflection of the flag waving over him was nice. I thought Tom would have fewer scenes, though. Isn't that how it was when Schneider directed?
6. I like that Clark's Splinter visions are more or less coming true. The Chloe/Lionel thing was more rooted in the past, but Lionel getting to his parents, and Lex getting to Lana seems so inevitable, now. Still, why does anyone give Lionel the time of day? These are the people who shunned Lex because of his father. Have they forgotten the murders and attempted murders? Or do they believe in his prison transformation? What?
7. Lastly, a Cylon in Smallville is even better than Lex's mom on Caprica :)
Supernatural 1.19 - Provenance
1. "THE KRIP". Heh, that Kripke is such a dork.
2. So where was the sex? Sarah was the perfect candidate! She had me at "I'll have a beer." Do sommeliers really hand you a wine list and then just stand over you like that? Who needs that kind of pressure? But oh, the close-ups during dinner were v.v. pretty.
3. I've always gotten a kick out of the Art Direction/Set Decoration of this show's many horrible motel rooms. My favorite was Faith, but the Saturday Night Fever room was a nice, outrageous change of pace :)
4. Speaking of production values, I continue to like the overall look and feel of this show. Yay for all the X-Files alumni! And I enjoyed the abrupt transition going into the auction house break-in. The music, camera work, all of it.
5. Knife-sharpening Dean is cool, but Gun-cleaning Dean is still my favorite :P However, Dean's intense "you've been trying to pimp me out" interest in getting his brother laid is... something I'm not prepared to deal with yet.
6. "Captain Obvious" is so very Joss.
7. We knew Dean wouldn't be so careless as to lose his wallet :) Btw, sometimes I think they overdo Dean as the dumb, uncouth brother. I think they can make Sam smart without the contrast, if that's the intent. The boy went to Stanford after all.
Hey, this is my 200th post :) *throws confetti* Whups, only the 199th. Ah, this is post 200, after all. The lj ticker was just slow to turn over. *picks confetti up off the floor and throws it again*
