Growing up half-black to a white mother in 1950s-1960s Kansas couldn't have been a picnic. As for women....I don't think anyone really thinks a woman can't be/won't sometime soon be president.
As for the speech itself....basically...I completely agree.
Someone not really on the radar right now....maybe Kansas governor Kathleen Sebelius is a good example.
The GOP might not serve up Sarah Palin again, that was a (hilarious) disaster. But if someone like her...essentially someone with very similiar politics, but also with a brain in her head. Someone like that could carry the right.
Clinton isn't completely out of the question......2020 might be a little early...but I don't see why it isn't out of the question to here from Chelsea in the 2020s or so. As for Hillary....I think she may find Sect. of State to satiate her political ambitions. Check back in 4 years there......Actually....I just looked it up....she'll be 69 years old in 2016. (Meaning she's 61 now....which I found to be shocking....she looks good for 61). So....I doubt it.
I don't think it's that far of - I think the US could do it next time around. Three female Secretaries of State in close succession, and right now Nancy Pelosi is Speaker of the House. The public is getting used to powerful ladies and if it weren't for the personality/uniting force of Barack Obama, I think you would have had a female President today.
Remember: Hillary lost the primaries by an eyelash, and I firmly believe she would have beaten McCain. Maybe not by as wide a margin as Obama did, but she'd have been celebrating by 9:30pm on election night.
As for the speech itself....basically...I completely agree.

this nation has a huge, ugly problem with sexism. i for one do doubt whether this patriarchy has room for a woman president 'sometime soon'.
