I've always been told not to react immediately after being provoked or swim immediately after eating. I'm mad now, but with a full stomach, so I think it's okay somehow.
I didn't pick up on this last night because the sound for the game wasn't on, but the Star Bulletin has the scoop! Apparently, Georgia fans were chanting "O-ver-rated, O-ver-rated", sometime after the thorough ass-kicking became apparent. So that could have happened any time between 8:45 and morning.

Now, far be it from me to walk into a BSC conference orgy and slap the dicks out of everyone's mouths, but it seems to me that if you're pissed off because you feel snubbed from the title game and your last line of defense is for other people to agree that the win you did get is, in actuality, much much better than the win the "champion" got, then what you DON'T want to be doing is disparaging the team you are stuck beating. Right? I mean, I know they're from Georgia, but these kids are actually attending a major American university, are they not? Seems a more prudent approach when lording yourselves over a 42-10 beatdown in something other than the #1 vs #2 game would be to chant stuff like:

"Their First Loss! Their First Loss!"

"Check The Score! We've Got More!"

"Be a Wise Man! Ignore the Heisman!"
(Yeah yeah, I know Tebow isn't in the title game either, but these hypothetical chanters are trying to reach the non-conformists out there.)

And then there's the catchy clap-happy Baseball-style chant:

"Hey--There--Vo--ters! Theseguysarereallygood!"

See, and I thought of all of that in less time than one of those interminable college replay reviews. (Seriously, do they not have those little camera booths for college refs or something? Did someone have to produce a high-quality lithograph of the previous play before someone could rule on it? What the fuck.)

Right, the main point here is that the logical thrust of what Georgia fans chose to actually chant is "We needed a patsy to beat". If Georgia fans are trying to send a message, here's the reply-side of that correspondence:

BCS Champion voter:
"That Georgia team - they sure look convincing knocking the kippers out of that #10 team there. Why, they could even vie for #1, should both of those teams turn in poor showings in that contest! And, of course, if... what, what, what's this? Georgia's rooters seem to have some advice to lend on this subject - it seems that, given the opportunity for a closer inspection, they've determined their opponent is quite sub-par, at least relative to the clout we've bestowed upon them before today's match. That is interesting news, and most welcome! If we had decided to reward the Georgia team, especially based on their efforts tonight, we'd have looked quite the lot of fools. Good show Georgians, and thank you! But now, don't let us keep you from continuing to drub that lesser opponent -- carry on."

But hey, I'm just some dumbshit who doesn't root for a BSC conference team. Don't let me tell you how to do things.

human beings are dumb, this is me being funny, news items, i don't get it
