Alrighty! 2009 is officially here and I now have a busy, busy year ahead of me!
Upcoming Cons:
Feb: Ikkicon (maaaybe..?)
It's during the start of my internship semester so going to this one prolly won't happen. Although I may just go up there for a day to check out the cosplays and take pics and not worry about cosplaying for it.
March: Mizzumi Con (pretty sure I just misspelled that really badly)
This one is a sub-con of the larger one in the summer (San-Japan). Curious to go see it. Might make a good alternative for Ikki, but since its smaller, there might not be as many people there.
May: A-Kon
This is one of the two biggest cons in Texas (along w/ Oni-Con). I know that there are literally thousands of cosplayers that go to this one and I really want to go. Only real downside to this one would be the cost of driving all the way across the state (and Texas is a big state) and the cost of the hotel (can't day trip this one). However, this is one of the best places to see some really creative and overall epic-level cosplayers in action so I may see what my money situation looks like come May.
July: Animix
This is probably a very do-able con. It's only about 90 minutes away and it's during the summer. Only problem is that it seems that this is kind of an 'unknown' con. It's located in a small town that's kind of far away from any of the major cities. It seems cool from everything I've read, but I have yet to talk to anyone who's been to this con.
August: San-Japan
A very nice local con, with the obvious downside of being located at two sites half a mile apart. Not a terrible problem until you understand that it is usually over 95 degrees with 95% humidity during the summer in Texas. Factor in a cosplay into all of this and well, yeah...
I swear I drank a gallon of water a day last year at this con. But regardless of the weather, this is prolly one of my favorite cons I've been to, and I missed getting my photos taken on the Riverwalk last year (a seriously EPIC backdrop for any cosplay photos!!) so I'll have to squeeze in some time for this one.
