Work SUCKS

So to explain why today sucked so much I have to tell you about yesterday. The delivery truck didn't show up until 6:30 and wasn't fully unloaded until nearly 7, so I had two hours to unpack, label, shelve and arrange about twenty cases of assorted booze while at the same time being upfront, behind the counter watching everyone who came in the store. I didn't have many customers last night, but a few of them took for-fucking-ever to make up their mind and I didn't get every single case done. I left four cases, in the storage room, unpacked. I was so busy trying to make sure that I didn't forget to check every bottle in the main store was pulled up and properly placed that I forgot to close the door to the storage room and turn off the light in there.

So now we come to today, I got woke up at 10 am with my boss bitching at me about the above crap and how it should only have taken me thirty minutes to put up the truck, like she can when she has done the job for 30 fucking years. Her phrasing of "You left the light on and a door open so the heat ran all night trying to warm an uninsulated room" was in that classically cliche, woman way by asking WHY DID YOU LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN AND THE LIGHT ON? Like I fucking did it on purpose for some disturbed reason. So I had to come in an hour early today, and I most likely will not be getting paid for that hour, just like I don't get paid for any of the time when I come in early or stay late past my scheduled hours.

I come in, after putting in applications at other places, and spend an hour putting up those 4 cases, pulling bottles out of the fridge and relabeling them cause the distributor screwed her on her discount, putting up the rest of the truck that she had been "working on all day" and generally doing my job and a little bit extra. She leaves and I'm still relabeling booze, then its onward to taking booze off shelves, dusting the shelves, dusting bottles and re-shelving them. Once again, I am the only one actually doing this as everyone else is "TOO BUSY". Around 7 O'clock I get a small rush, like 5 people in the store. Including one very short, heavy coat wearing mexican who is busy watching me, instead of looking at the booze. I look over and he's hiding behind a shelf messing with bottles, then he walks over to the corner where we have the camera pointed, and I watch this fucker take a 1.5 liter bottle of rum and stick it in his coat. I call the police, and as he is getting to the door tell him not to leave, he bolts and by the time the cops got there, was nowhere to be seen. Oh, he was on foot too, cause I went and checked to see if I could get a license plate number.

After another three hours of boring slow night of dusting bottles and shelves I manage to break a bottle of amaretto by dropping it two inches. So I have to clean that up, we have no mop wringer, no hot water, no real mop bucket. So after picking up all the big pieces of glass I have to scoop up the rest using a rag, soak up the nasty almond stinking mess with other rags, which I then have to ring out by hand, glass and all. That was my night, I hope yours was better.
