Not dead yet!

But close enough... and proud to be a basic account!

Granted, it may demonstrate the fact that I don't care about icons -too old to be swayed by the number of 100x100 pictures I can store online, maybe- or that I don't care about the background color of my f-page or my overwhelming moral failings, but I don't care!

:D

*preens*

And I am just as cute and distinctive in real life too, I tell you! Now if I could just convince my real-life friends and co-workers... :D

But yes, LJ's corporate owners always commit the mistake of thinking that they are smarter than the users. It's the same old story and a disgraceful display of unjustified arrogance.

Possibly like so: 'we don't need no marketing manager, we can do it all without paying a professional for it' or some such idiocy, I suspect. Just like 6A was probably thinking 'we don't need no legal advisor, we completely understand the legal implications of letting our users post adult content even though we have never actually thought about it or included any disclaimer in our TOS'.

In the meantime LJ users really need to find a realistic way of moving fandom to a more congenial network/location... I hate being hostage to the content posted exclusively to LJ.

Thank God for authors like you who have thought about the long-term availability of their fics and have a consistent and flexible archiving policy!

I think it was someone on metafandom who pointed at that inertia rules ok, and that what's moved fandom (from usernet to yahoo groups to LJ) has been technological advancement, and it would likely take the same to move from LJ. She's probably right.

You know, I love what LJ offers in terms of posting and communities and flists and interaction that the old Yahoo groups just can't come close to. I just don't feel very welcome here any more.

Ha! I just put the new SGA one up on the Dome, at Skyhawke, Area 52 and Wraithbait - and I had to do it four different darn ways. Will grumble myself off to breakfast now as a reward.

Cheers!

Yes you are right about fandom moving away from LJ, even though your last post about BEACON was really terrifying.

Though not exactly unexpected...

and I had to do it four different darn ways

Argh. It is greatly appreciated though, because accessibility is such an important aspect of fanfiction. Thank you again!
