But, but... what's not to love about Sam? At least now that we do not have to put up with the disgracefulness of the O'Neill crush anymore?

Granted, she is a bit of a Mary Sue, but she is so cute. And she means well: I cannot imagine her ever taking decisions as wrong-headed and morally dubious as Elizabeth, call me unfair...

At first I was also a bit worried that the PTB would make McKay look stupid to underline the contrast between them, but we should remember that he is also a favorite of the writers, this is pretty obvious.

Plus, his crush on her is a built-in excuse should he look less than brilliant compared to her! Lust fogged his brain! It's all her fault. And see the perfect fic background this would provide for Sheppard taking her to task for distracting McKay and endangering Atlantis! Oh the hair pulling we could see! This would be especially entertaining due to the fact they both have shortish hair... Hm.

*gleeful*

Now. Who is going to write all these stories? Bunnies as far as the eye can see and no one to write any of them? Where are all the brilliant SGA fanwriters when one needs them?

umm now which of the writers is the Sam!MarySue? That brings a whole new meaning to Jack/Sam. heh

I wasn't a hugest fan of Weir for that reason when the show began until I actually saw Torri at a convention. I thought Torri was adorable so I gave Weir another shot. I could see in places Shep/Weir and tried to read some of the fic, but it wasn't I dunno..nasty enough. *shrugs*

I still love Torri, but cannot stand Weir. I adore Sam so I'm looking forward to the sexual tension Rodney squirming! between McShep and her.

OMG, do you know how long I' ve been wondering that! Years, years, I tell you, because it is the most obvious question fans never ask at conventions (well, more discreetly and without using the work Mary-Sue of course!)

Imagine being a fly on the wall during an SGA writing brainstorming session... The dialog would tell us a lot about the respective Kinsey rating of all present!

heh! I can. I was listening to the commentary for Lost Boys this evening and from sorta nowhere Martin Gero was gushing about the warmth between Sheppard and McKay. "You two have great chemistry on camera!" I nearly died.

Martin is in love with teh McShep!

In fact throughout the commentaries there is always some comment about te McShep dynamic despite them not calling it that.

I might have to call Martin 'Martylou' from now on.. Hee!

And I can understand your points about Elizabeth too: certainly my like or dislike of a character has nothing to do with their respective actors (I have heard more than once that TH is a great person, and hilarious in person, that does not redeem the character she plays in my eyes).

I think season 4 will be an outstanding success! In season 1, we had Teyla and Ford rolling their eyes at the McShep-ness, but Ronon, while a great addition, does not have the background to appreciate the snark, the UST or the geeky references.

Whereas Sam would! She would probably get enough of their dorky jokes and snarky repartee to roll her eyes knowingly (like Elizabeth sometimes did, and those were my favorite Elizabeth moments). *irrepressible glee*

That's exactly what happened to me concerned Weir. Never was a huge fan, but Torri was so damn adorable. I also still don't really like Weir but Torri *squee*

And really bring on the Sheppard pouting because his bff is distracted by Sam. :-)
